All the stand one drive thru stores make their own donuts. Always have.
It failed last time because of a bad location at Sunridge, and the franchise fees were astronomical for all Canadian locations. I assume that has changed or the corporate model has changed.
I assume those guys knew the deal going into that business arrangement...but I'm curious if that would hold up in any court. I assume not.
There sure are some quirky rules out there. I used to regularly walk through a conservative Hasidic neighbourhood in Brooklyn (big beards, woman with wigs etc). On a couple of occasions I was approached by locals asking me to come to their home and turn on/off all their lights. I guess they are not allowed to use electronics on certain days (but funnily enough were apparently were ok with gentiles operating it for them).

That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
I dont even GAF about the $100k. The Synagogues pay for that and for them thats a drop in the bucket. There are New York Jews that could find $100K in their couch cushions.

Ha! I just learned about Eruvs recently. Does the video mention how they pay someone to drive the perimeter and inspect the cable? You know, to make sure the magic is still working.

I hope some of these mainstays remain though. Went to Market Mall on the weekend and shocked that a mortgage broker opened in the mall. Such a boring entity to take up mall space. It was completely void of any customers, cause who casually goes to a mortgage broker at the mall.
