Laine will do what Monahan did in his sleep while having the ability to create that Monahan simply never had.

Sillinger is a fantastic and improving young player who is coming off a great rookie year and merely a piece of the top 6 for the Blue Jackets. Outside of axe grinding, there's little reason to suggest Gaudreau isn't going to be highly productive with the cast around him. For him that is certainly in the 100 point conversation again.
You are talking about style and not substance. They scored at roughly the same pace. And while Monahan had Gaudreau (though not in year one), Laine played with the likes of Scheifele and Ehlers right out of the gate.

The most recent episode of The Athletic Hockey Show was music to my ears. It just sang the praises of the Flames and Treliving.

By the time he was 25, Sean Monahan literally had the same number of points as Iginla INCLUDING Iggy’s 1st 50g season (363).

Yeah yeah Gaudreau, and Obviously Laine is better now, and has that missile of a shot.

Monahan was still absurdly productive, especially for the 6th overall pick.

Who would have thought we would be going into this season with a lineup that still included Monahan and Lucic. If Sean can rebound and play top 6 minutes and we fill the gap for top 6 winger we could have a really good team.

If we don’t get that top 6 forward I think we’re in trouble

Monahan has looked like a different player since his health went downhill, but the name Moneyhands was well-deserved for a long time.

Monahan was the leading goal scorer of his draft year until the injury troubles...yes ahead of Nate in that department for years

Anyway those CBJ guys can score points in 5-3 losses...I honestly don't care if Gaudreau scores 100 points for a 10th place team...heck score 200

How many years was Monahan the scoring King of his draft class? All of them up until the inuries caught up. Let's not start revising history.

I think Pelletier will be in the lineup somewhere. Same with Ruzicka. Think you missed Coleman too.

But I agree with you. There’s a big whole or two in the forwards area. Not an easy puzzle to put together.

I think Toffoli fills out the top line. I can’t see Monahan centering the second line.

Can people not have the patience to allow Monahan to heal from his surgeries and then observe his performance?

He deserves that.

Imagine having your body fall apart and then people actually using it as a green light to throw shade at your career.

People here need to pick on someone who could actually help their lack of production.

Don't think I can take Monahan haters seriously about anything hockey related. He helped carry the team through the initial years of the last rebuild by being an adequate 1C for a few years. Which was probably throwing punches above his weight class to begin with.

People who find reasons to trash the guy have to be the worst Flames fans.

Haven’t we done that the last two seasons?

Where would one go to potentially witness this song of praise?

Edit: Never mind. It turns out that Google is still my friend. https://theathletic.com/podcast/240-...w/?episode=374

If Monahan comes back healthy and contributes even remotely close to what he did a couple/few years ago that would feel like signing a solid UFA center for free. I forget about him most of the time. If he could actually come back and add some offense.........that would be incredible for the franchise.

Contract year for Monny, too. I bet he'll be as fit and motivated as ever.

Which isn't to say either of those were ever a problem, but lots of guys can find an extra gear for a year that is tough to sustain long-term.

Even just 20 goals 20 assists and being a player that doesn’t end up turning it over at the attacking blue line which turns into goals.

It’s not that much to hope for.

Will Monahan’s rehab make him a better skater?

Because that’s probably the bigger problem.
