The Leafs idea of selling isn't going to include their core. It will be the pieces that they recently overpaid for, like Carlo and Laughton. The problem is that they have really driven down the value of these players.
I think that Toronto has Edmonton disease. Derek Ryan called the Oilers out for it recently. They have stars that are allowed to play a free wheeling game, and no one else has an established role. In Edmonton, its killed the careers of guys like Henrique, and stunted the rise of guys like Isaac Howard and Quinn Hutson.
Toronto and Edmonton are getting the reputation of a place where careers go to die. Thats not good for them.

What would be an acceptable Utah trade for Kadri? They have plenty of desirable pieces and all the future 1sts and 3x 2nd in the upcoming draft.

He has failed pretty hard over there. Most of his success could be attributed to Dubas' effort to build the roster... and since he took over what has he really done to make things better?
Goaltending continues to be suspect.
Their D is not very good and additions like OEL and Carlo have not salvaged the situation.
He basically walked another star player to UFA and the team is in shambles now, likely because he could not retain Marner.
Their prospect pipeline is non-existent.
I don't really see a move that makes me think he has "won" or "made the team better". Look at the two trade he made to with 1st round picks:
The Carlo trade looks like a massive loss as Carlo is playing terribly and Minten would be 5th on the Leafs for scoring with his 14 goals... the 1st rounder will be devastating if/when Boston selects a good player to pummel the Leafs for years to come.
The Laughton trade is not much better. 2 goals in 20 games last year and only 8 goals this season. Grebenkin does not have as many goals but he has more points this season AND the Flayers have the Leafs 2027 1st.
In both trades, the player that BT sent out looks better than the player that came in and those 1st round picks will be devastating if the Leafs continue to be bad.
Honestly, this should be the end of his career as a NHL GM.

The fact that the Penguins were expected to be bad and made a bunch of changes and low risk moves while boosting their prospect pool and asset base is highlighting the issue in Toronto that much more. Add in the Flames results and it hurts Treliving more.
Dubas has the Pens trending in a very nice direction where Trelivng has the Leafs in a very precarious spot with not much in the way of youth or assets available. Meanwhile Treliving’s former team is in the throes of a rebuild and anchored to the worst contract in the league for another 5 years and the reason they are in this spot can be traced back to him

The Bruins really seem to like ragdolling the Leafs in trades. Just off the top of my head, Leafs gave the Bruins Rask, Seguin, Hamilton, and now Minten. Have the Leafs ever come out on top on a trade with the Bruins?

They can trade their 1st rounder this year, as long as it is top 5.

That trade deadline last year was like the post Gaudreau leaving in free agency streak he had here. Meltdown after plan A didn't work out.

Has Brad Treliving been running over dogs and divorcing sisters all over Calgary or something?
Man oh man some guys are having a hard time turning the page here. What’s ironic is he basically teed up the Flames got a rebuild which is something that a lot of posters here have been clamouring, literally, decades for. I’d bet a good portion of the people still complaining about Treliving were/are complaining about when the Flames rebuild or how they rebuild.
Acknowledging my name here, but who cares what he does in Toronto good or bad?
….yikes.

Nah. He's done well enough to earn more chances. He hasn't been an absolute failure. Stan Bowman... I don't know how he'll ever get another job... but probably will.

If Leafs miss the playoffs or squeak in and get swept, Pelley will clean house.

Hayton, Beaudoin, and 1st for Kadri is fair imo.
Big win for Utah to get Kadri against the central teams, and without gutting Iggy or Desnoyers.

I doubt we’d get both of those players. One or the other plus 1st is much more likely

Hayton's an interesting target. He's roughly the age Sam Bennett was when Calgary traded him and could probably use a change of scenery.
I'm not sure Calgary is the best fit at this time to rebuild his confidence, but he's still got plenty of upside even at 25 and could figure it out.
I doubt Calgary would get Beaudoin too, but a 1st and Hayton is reasonable for old man Kadri.
