Add Bieber, move Lauer to long relief.
Add Bednar for an elite 8th inning guy and closer insurance.

I do like the idea of adding Kwan for LF and lead off. Loperfido probably goes the other way though, plus probably a couple other prospects. Loperfido seems to have figured something out though, so that one might sting long term.

Varsho coming back moves Lukes to the bench.

Lauer has been our best starter this season and is a lefty

Why are we taking him out of the rotation ?

Yeah I know. Tough decision of who to take out if they add a starter. Unless they roll a 6 man rotation for a while.

They really should add one though, unless they want more Lucas starts down the stretch if a starter gets hurt.

If we got a top end starter, I’d be more inclined to move Bassitt or Scherzer to the pen, Lauer needs to keep starting as long as he keeps it up like he is.

Or piggyback Lauer/Scherzer together and help save overwork on the pen

Rays down to one in the top of the ninth and hit a two run home run to go ahead 3-2. Volpe then it's a home run in the bottom of the ninth to tie it then for some reason Wells thought there was three out on a play later and started walking off the bag and was tagged out office sacrifice bunt

Lol. The Yankees are so brain dead on the diamond this year. I love it.

That’s extra insane, becuase he wouldn’t even be doing a sac bunt in the first place if there was already two outs. That is horrific, and they deserve to lose

Suarez to the Mariners. The big bat is off the board. Don’t think the Jays were in on him anyways.

Tidy little trade.

Khal Stephen is probably going to flourish in Cleveland's pitching wonderland. But I like this for the Jays.

Stephen is a good prospect but prospects don’t help you win the World Series this year unless you trade them. Assuming his rehab continues to move smoothly, Bieber is a guy who you could comfortably start in an elimination game. Not sure I feel the same way about Bassitt so this is a pretty good move.

Got an extra year with Bieber too.

Player option for $16 million. If he is good, he seeks a long term contract, if he is bad he accepts and the Jays can pay him to play, or buy him out for $4 million.

The player option is an interesting wrinkle!

One of three completed.

I think they get Bednar today too. Kwan not quite as much.

It is interesting because when healthy Bieber is elite, he just hasn't been able to stay healthy.

He's looked okay in his rehab starts though, and likely will be motivated to have a good finish to the season.

I'd be surprised if he declined the player option too - $16M is a lot of money and he's young enough that a healthy 18 months in Toronto would allow him to get a decent UFA contract at 31 years old after next season.

With the Jays luck Stephen probably becomes a good MLB pitcher, but overall I still don't mind the move.

The player option doesn't help the Jays, as the name implies it is a benefit to the player.

I imagine the Jays and his agent had already discussed and agreed what will happen with the option before this trade was made either way
