In other news, now Cimber kinda sucks too. His ERA ballooned to over 4 with that outing, and with his low strike out rate and inability to miss bats he's never really been a strong FIP or xFIP guy.

Yeah, you don't trade a proven MLB quality catcher with 2.5 years of control left for bullpen help IMO.

Maaaaaaaybe you do it for a guy like Bednar who is an elite level closer with several years of control left. But even then you are probably getting smoked on value. Jansen only has 19 games and 60 PA's and still has 0.6 fWAR to Bednar's 1.1 fWAR

That doesn't even take into account at how volatile relievers can be.

Unless you are some how completely stabilizing the bull pen, that's just not a move you make. Any single reliever is bad value.
