Strange that they don't already have it reset to something like 5 seconds. Give them an inch and most of them will take that mile.

Iga should have been the night match today. I think all but one night session has been a men's match, need to do a better job giving equal treatment.

This is really quite shocking to see as it's hard to find better quality entertainment.

I would say this is the likely outcome I can see happening given his comments recently and earlier at the Australian Open.

Ruud up two sets to one on Rune as Casper takes set 3 in a tie-break. Really impressive stuff from Holger Rune though, he is the real deal.

A pretty frosty handshake between the Scandinavians at the end of the match which left Ruud shaking his head at the salty Dane. Who had Ruud vs. Cilic as a semi-final?

Watching Swiatek vs. Kasatkina and Daria is playing very well. First set to The Iga by a 6-2 score. She is just that dominant at the moment.

It was 2-2 in the opening set (Swiatek won the first two games and then Kasatkina won the next two) and then Iga won 10 of the next 11 games. 6-2 6-1 in 1 hour and 4 minutes.

I wasn't aware that Rune was investigated last year by the ATP for uttering homophobic slurs. Now he's still young and we all did dumb things as teenagers (I know I sure did), but Ruud is regarded as one of the nicest guys on tour. Let's just hope we can talk more about his tennis going forward because he's very talented.

I think the scheduling of women's matches definitely has had an impact, but there's no denying that the women's game has also taken a hit with no Serena and also with the retirement of Ash Barty. Iga is fantastic, but right now there's nobody even coming close to challenging her. I also think the lack of a current top French women's player is also hurting attendance.

this is good and bad for women's tennis. good to have possible successor to the Serena era, but bad that there is no one to make her even work for it. if the majority of your top seeds are going to be done by week 1 and the world #1 is dummying all the remaining obscure names, then the stands are going to continue to be sparse.
make slams Bo5 to start, so that you don't lose all your big names right off the bat, and fans get more than 1 hour of action especially if it's night session. and pray to the tennis gods that a few worthy rivals show up.

I think if I was coaching somebody taking on Iga, I would say you need to mix up the pace and use angles to get her off the baseline and have her try to hit shots from different locations on the court. You can't hit through her, but I would try to hit high balls to the backhand and look for any short return to be aggressive and either hit a winner or a good approach shot that sets up an easy volley. The only other thing you can do is hope you catch her on a bad day.

This is a pretty good match between Gauff and Trevisan. Coco just broke the Italian's spirit I think with that break of serve.

French Open director Amélie Mauresmo: Women’s matches are less compelling
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...elie-mauresmo/
Quote:
During a news conference Wednesday morning at Roland Garros, Mauresmo, 42, defended her decision to schedule only one women’s match (compared with nine for men) for night sessions, saying she currently finds women’s tennis less attractive and less appealing than men’s.
“In this era that we are in right now, I don’t feel — and as a woman, former women’s player, I don’t feel bad or unfair saying that right now you have more attraction, more attractivity — Can you say that? Appeal? — for the men’s matches,” Mauresmo said when asked about the gender imbalance in the scheduling of the featured night matches.

Coco Gauff will take on Iga Swiatek in the women's final. Coco is playing some excellent tennis of late, will it be enough to challenge Iga?
