Not 100% certain, but I do recall Friedman mentioned that he heard some teams would wait till after the break because they didn't want to pay a player for sitting on a beach. I think a player like Ras got traded because the Flames made it known they wanted it done before.

I'm not quite ready to ditch Weegar just yet because of his mentoring of Parekh.. They get along really well, and we got to see a glimpse of them playing together in the 3rd yesterday, and I think it has the possibility to be good for both..

Everything I am hearing indicates that is what they are doing.

Teams in contention this year, particularly in the east, know the Panther's are a playoff built juggernaut, but they're a pretty big long shot to even make the playoffs this year.

This might be the best chance in the next couple of years for teams in the east to make the cup final. That, and with the very tight race, should make it a good year to get an overpayment for that last piece or two from a contender.
