|
I personally don't see a reason it needs to be +++ to select Whitecloud over weegar.
Whitecloud is younger, has a great public leadership persona, and fits our stable of defenders better in the mid-long term (being mostly d focused, and a hitter.) His contract is also better.
I think max value on Weegar is probably now or soon. Even with a pretty bad season, you're looking more to capitalize on his last 2. And you're selling the acquiring team on him as a cost controlled top 4 RD with offensive upside for a few playoff runs.
That combination makes it, IMO a no brainer to move on from Weegar asap with Whitecloud in the fold, assuming Whitecloud is interested in staying.

I'm thinking guys who were selected in 2nd round + and have since exceeded expectations at forward. Similar profile to Mews but in a better position for us.

I agree with you but not sure the Flames would. Hard to gauge Weegar’s value with his NMC

NHL trade freeze is 26.5 hours away. Deals could be done on Panarin but he is waiting for the right team(s). La and San Jose as mentioned seem to have deals in place but there is a hold there. 4 years/11 M is what he is apparently looking for and I know 4 years/$9.75 M per was offered. I believe it may have got to 10 but can't confirm.
Was told there is tons of trade talk around players around the league and people are waiting for the first domino to fall. On Weegar: was told the offer wasn't what Calgary wants yet so they are waiting. SJ put in an offer and apparently other GM's have put in an offer/had talks. SJ hasn't had talks about Kadri or Coleman. They have Panarin and a right shooting defenseman on the list.
4-5 teams have called on Ferraro but it seems he might re-sign. Sharks have had discussions on Brandon Carlo as well.

Actually, Mr. Coffee did say he was the best forward, "borderline in the tournament":

If you offer Parekh for Iginla straight up? Utah rejects. 100%.

Have to think that Detroit would be a prime landing spot for Weegar. Looking at the Red Wings defense, he would be a great fit there.

Tryna feel something this week, need some movement.
They talked about this on Barnburner but if you're a vet not going to the Olympics it feels like such a no brainer that you'd want to be dealt ahead of the freeze to give you and your family the time to move and get settled with the new team.

Keep waiting, things will stay quiet until the TDL. If I was a gambling man I'd wager no one else on the flames moves as "the value wasn't there".

I wonder if the teams could agree, the players could be advised, but it does not get submitted until post-freeze. This saves the acquiring team some money...

Zayne is good do not get me wrong… he is not Tij Iginla. If you have the chance to trade Parekh for Iginla 1:1 it’s a total home run and you take it 10/10 times. Holy ####. Can’t even believe I’m having this conversation but super reflective of the bias on this website. Wow.
|
Man, you are way overrating Tij because of his dad. I'm not even convinced Tij Iginla will be a top line player let alone a superstar and I sure as hell wouldn't trade Parekh for him let alone add a 1st. There is nothing at all that indicates Tij Iginla will be a superstar. Could he end up one? I guess it's possible but nothing indicates that. You have gone way off the deep end here.

I don't know if a team would be willing to take risk of getting all that set up and the player injuries himself over the break eating pancakes.

The last part is an interesting point.
My question is whether or not the remaining salary numbers will go down during the Olympic shutdown. I can understand why they would, as I imagine the players would still be getting paid during that time period, but I can also see the logic behind freezing remaining salary amounts during the break as the remaining games are not changing.
Does anyone know how this works?
