My small children love to go to Home Depot, Canadian Tire, etc to look at the big scary Halloween displays and beg me to buy the $8000 14ft skeletons.
I can't remember exactly what day we went, but it was well before Halloween, and there was NO Halloween stuff! The kids were so disappointed and I was floored. Wall to wall xmas decorations by mid-October. So stupid.

WTF

My mother in law was watching one of these last week. It "happened" in Calgary. She was telling us about it when she was about half way through it and insisted we watch it with her. So we started where she had left off. What a compelling story, an executive at a private airline disappeared after a Christmas party that took place at the Palliser. Just vanished into the snowy night. Even with the unfailing efforts of a particular detective the case went cold... etc etc. My wife and I looked at each other, and her mom kept asking us "Do you remember this? It was in 2021!!" I had no memory, but I started googling the peoples names and nothing popped. I googled the name of the airline, nothing again. My wife had been doing the same on her phone and I said "I think this might be AI, the narration is very flowery and this airline doesn't exist". (Oh yeah, the guy who was murdered had been looking into shady financial dealings of the company and was about to talk to a lawyer about it the Monday after he disappeared). My mother in law (who is almost 80) said "Well it's out of business now, that's why you can't find it" and pushed back saying things like "Well how did they talk to the detective then? The chief of police gave a press conference!!" After a few minutes she realized it wasn't real, and she was disappointed. "Why would someone make this up?!?" The story had just got interesting when the body was discovered in an oil drum dug up on a construction site... You think that would have been a news story we might remember!
I looked the YouTube channel and it's cranking out 2-3 fake murder stories a day. What a strange thing.

Yeah no, f-ck that. If Santa could stop sticking his ass into everything until December, that would be great.

Nope. It is all about money, just like the Christmas decorations. The stores know when they sell #### and realize the earlier they put out the xmas ####, it sells. A site cranking out 2-3 stories a day is obviously getting hits. I wonder how many subscribers it has? Monetized as ####, clearly people click on and WATCH a 48-minute video that AI took 10 seconds to create. Pretty great business model, really.
When in doubt, figure out who is getting paid. That is always the answer.
(Curious side thought, Grammarly suggested that xmas be replaced with Christmas. The religious zealots have taken over spell check apps!!)

I always find the automated reminder to be somewhat funny.
"Please do not be angry or abusive!"
How about you answer the phone sometime this goddamned Millennium then?
CRA is my favourite, when you're on hold for hours and then the crappy hold music goes quiet and you hear the very distinctive *click* of being hung-up on.
Forget politeness to the people on the phone, I find it astonishing that nobody has barged into their offices with a gun.

Both Xmas and Christmas are religious uses of the word. The X is the Greek letter Chi which is short for Christos in Greek. It’s been used since the 1500s
Goes to show how stupid people are who want to keep the Christ in Christmas when seeing Xmas.

Shopping for phones/plans is such a pain. Question, does anyone know if the major mobility companies in Canada do black Friday deals (like actual good deals, not the standard crap black Friday stuff you see at Walmart and Amazon the past few years)?
Are there places in Canada that do black Friday deals on phones straight up without contracts? Maybe apple, Samsung direct?

If you have access to an EPP the mobility companies have had pretty solid deals on Black Friday. The EPP deals have been much better than regular consumer offers.

The Apple Store told me that Apple doesn’t have deals on phones but the carriers offer deals on plans. I’m with Virgin with two plans and will shop around.
