The first tiebreaker is head to head.

Shoemaker is back tonight. Hopefully he has a good outing and can work his way into our postseason rotation.

Help, save, whatever.

Roarke kind of screwed himself with the diesel engine talk when in actuality he is more like a dollar store AA battery.

it wasn't the talk that did him in, it was crappy pitching
pitch well and you can say anything you like

Despite how bad this week has been, Jays are essentially in now (FiveThirtyEight has them at 98%). Will likely get TB to start but we might pull the White Sox depending on how the last week goes. Time to set up starting pitching for the playoffs and make sure guys are as healthy as possible.

Yes, the Jays have 4 against the Yankees, but...
Seattle has 3 against Houston (which is good), then 4 in Oakland
Baltimore has 3 in Boston then 3 in Toronto
The Angels have 2 in SD and 3 in LA.
Making up 4 or 5 games in the loss column, with 7 to go, when you're on the road, is... pretty tough.
The only way the Jays don't make the playoffs is if they completely collapse and go 1-6 or 0-7. And if they do that, then they don't deserve the playoffs (and even if that happens, they STILL probably get in).

Sucks about Giles, and sucks FOR Giles.
He can pretty much thank Montoyo for that one. Going to cost him millions and millions of dollars.
Also, there is no way Merryweather will be a starter IMO.
He's only pitched 13 innings and he's already back to the IL with "elbow tendinitis".

Two walks and a week ground ball finding a hole. 1-0 Yankees.

For a return outing, this has been solid from Shoemaker. The 54 pitches is a decent number. If he starts Saturday the O's, he should be able to go 65-70 pitches; which would set him up for 80-90 in a playoff start.

Watching my first baseball in like 5 years right now.
How the hell are they not getting rid of the home plate umpire for calling balls and strikes? So inconsistent. Just use the TV strike zone.
