Donna Mac was good. Croquettes and tagliatelle were both tasty. Rice pudding was surprisingly good.
Porch was very bad. With overpriced drinks and bad service. The pizza was not even frozen grocery store brand quality. I feel compelled to mention this one was not my idea and I’m second guessing my friendship with the people who invited me.

Porch's wings are good. I don't mind their Caesar salad.
Their drinks are overpriced and sugary. The rest of the food is meh.

Good riddance. Bad bad and even worse service.
|
I thought it was okay. Nothing special though.
Boring steak restaurants don't stand a chance here.

I've enjoyed Porch, admittedly just for lunch and occasionally with my kids (they think the room is fun and I'm not bothered taking them there on a Friday afternoon with one other table in the whole place).

Anyone with notes on Wilde? Looking at the tasting for an upcoming anniversary.

I haven't been, but that's partly because I've yet to hear much positive about Wilde... That said, the tasting menu does look pretty solid if it's well executed.

I'm surprised any Cattle Baron locations are still open.

I went to salt and brick last week
Apparently they adjust their menu weekly.
It was fantastic. They had a deep fried chicken skin that was amazing. The beef pihcana was also excellent. They also have a speakeasy in the back that is pretty neat and has better cocktails then the main restaurant.

Just going back to this... Went to Porch last night for dinner with a large group and everything was really good... There was tartar, lamb shank, steak, the aforementioned wings, kale caesar and... pizza (which was really more of a flat bread)... All really solid. Service was great too, the manager even came over a few times to check in...
Every time I've been, I can't say there's anything to knock them for... maybe they were having an off night when you were there?

Their first restaurant in Kelowna is one of my favourites. It changes daily there.

I was always pretty uncomfortable with the number of gang members hanging out at that place.

Awful, awful meal at Luca over the weekend. Like, the worst $ to satisfaction ratio in my entire life.
Appetizers were good, wine was good (that's not really a credit to them, when I chose), but the mains were bland, poorly presented and just disappointing. Also, the worst martinis (plural - I wanted to give them a second chance on an extra dry vodka martini with olives, but nope) I've had since being served one at a friend's house a long time ago "well, I've never made one before. What do you think?"
Have had great meals on prior visits; it was still a nice place to be and the service was fantastic as usual, but the kitchen was really off...
Anyone else been lately? Was it an off night, or has it gone down hill?

Can confirm that the Connie & John’s Detroit-style pizza hits the spot. The herb aoili dipping sauce was delicious.
