Expecting 4000-5000 next year is very optimistic, I think. First, I am not betting they reduce prices enough for that - though any reduction helps. But most importantly, the problem of location is still there.
IMO, I think we'd want to aim for a more modest improvement. If the average attendance can grow by 10% - to about 3700 or so - then I'd call that a success.
Another problem we are always going to face will be days like tomorrow. I tip my cap to any diehards that show, because there won't be more than 1500 people actually in the stands. It's Calgary. We will always have to deal with a couple awful weather games.

I think Cavalry have done decent at the gate.
And, as was debated early in the year, I think they have the pricing mostly right. I say this because I really don't think that they'd get 20% more people out if tickets were 20% cheaper to equal the overall revenue generated.
Days like tomorrow, days like the second and third home games of the year. Any midweek game for that matter that wasn't the CC. And, as the top team in the league. There hasn't really been a bandwagon effect, aside firm the Cc games, where attendance has significantly grown as the season has gone on even with being the top team.
It's been around the same die hards or semi diehards that make most the games, and the price is not as much of a factor to those people.
And given the other barriers such as the location etc, there are lots of reasons, before price, that people don't attend, but I think price is done the list. It's proven to be a good atmosphere, good grounds and setting outside of some early hiccups. Decent weather too, but again, nice weather days didn't have a huge pop like you'd think of it was casual people coming out.
It will be troubling to see other teams, all of which had cheaper seats but some with poorer attendance, and how they manage through next season. Raising prices there next year will be disastrous, where Cavalry can come down if need be. Halifax and Victoria are only teams that don't have CFL teams from the group.

I think the most expensive seats need to come down.
The experience, sitting in 105 & 106, are not $90 & $100
The ceiling as a whole, is $70 per.

It's a tough day for my Foot Clan brethren. It wasn't just our home, but also the cherished vessel of so many beautiful memories. Expect the GoFundMe to follow shortly.

I sincerely hope they sell whiskey at the game tonight. Or the amount of jumping will need to increase tenfold.

I highly doubt he league has a sophisticated auditing system yet, and I'd imagine that league revenue ( or lack there of) keeps the teams responsible for the most part.

I know at least some of the Cavalry players also work for the team in other capacities. I remember articles on some of the signings mentioning that - Mason Trafford is working for Spruce Meadows and Jay Wheeldon is academy manager at Foothills for example

There are some that are much lower than that 50k. Cavalry has worked some bonuses into those lower paid guys though.

I'm bringing a date to tonight's game! Given the weather, the opponent, and the desire for whiskey, I feel this is a perfect test to prove her worth.

Word on the Can PL subreddit is that it is highly unlikely an expansion will happen before next season. No surprises there. Seven teams is good enough for now.

Question around the Voyageur Cup qualifying.
Why can't a local, Alberta amateur team qualify for it, in the same way the amateur teams from Quebec & Ontario can?
ie; Challenge Cup Trophy winner.
For example, Callies 10 years ago had a formidable team, that won it a couple times.
Why not make them a qualifier for the 2020 Voyageur Cup, considering the Challenge Cup, starts today.

Most likely answer is that the Voyageurs Cup is only open to leagues that sit in the top three tiers of what amounts to our soccer pyramid. The AMSL would probably have to apply for formal recognition within that system.

This shouldn't be exclusive to the AMSL, and that all of the Provincial organizations should want their clubs to be eligible, by winning the Challenge Cup. Agreed, in that they should petition as a whole for eligibility.
I'm sure it can be done ,as the ON/QC teams are rather new to the competition.

I would take any news using Duane Rollins as a source with a block of salt.

Fortunately, I have been reading the Neal Lucic trade thread. I think I'll have all the salt I need.

FWIW, I've heard ticket prices will be coming down next year. I don't know if that is for sure nor do I know how much they would come down.
Curious about this, but for those who are not going due to the ticket price, would you go if the ticket price for the best seats was $70? It seems people aren't going tonight despite there being hundreds of good seats for $10, although I completely understand why.
