I really like Strange New Worlds, but the S2E1 left me disappointed.

I'm just so sick of the let's disregard orders, steal the ship, and then Starfleet acting like it's no big deal plot. Also, am I forgetting something from last season about the 'roids that give them super strength and their opponents forget they have phasers?

I couldn't quite figure out how they had all those Klingons, but not one bothered to have a bat'leth on them.


I also get the feeling whoever was in charge of this episode watched and enjoyed The Expanse.

Uh huh. Sure you do.

I've always questioned the whole utopian no money concept of the Federation, where Captain Picard lectures or brags. "We don't have money, or jobs per say. We got past that and people do what they want to do."


Which makes me wonder how they get people to do the dirtier jobs, or the mundane jobs. And how we don't have a federation with a vast majority of people that weight 300 pounds and rarely get off of the couch.


And if everyone can do what they choose to do, why don't we have more over throws because everyone in Star Fleet could decide that they want to be Captain of the ship, or the federation president.

I just figured they were all Klingon tradesmen and nerds responsible for building the ship, not warriors.

Really had fun with that first episode. Spock drinking bloodwine and shouting was beautifully done, never really losing the stoicism. And the shots of the space dock, just plain cool.

Can you imagine the complaints department in a store run by the merchant class

Kang - "These pants fit my son too tightly in the crotch"

Merchant Msomething - "Do you question my honor?" dives over the table with a knife.

Or the accounting class

Even their doctor class would be kind of cool

Doctor bargle - "Your cholesteral is high, and you have the body fat ratio of a Targ. Lose weight or die"

Patient - "But I love blood worms"

Doctor Bargle pulls out a knife and stabs him to death "Next"

Weirdest part was seeing a Klingon in reflective work gear.

Ok, that is right now my favorite episode of the show so far.

We've had court room episodes before. Ironically the menagerie in the original series where we were introduced to Pike. To the really excellent Drumhead in Star Trek TNG.



This episode was really interesting because the premise of the anti-genetic laws in Star Fleet while rooted in good intentions to prevent another eugenics war. They were racist and non inclusive at their roots.


Why was this my favorite episode? Beyond some really good scenes of tension, April being grilled over the Prime Directive. Spock admitting that Number 1 has a secret love for Gilbert and Sullivan musicals. The disclosures that she had turned herself in and implicated Pike in a conspiracy.



Again what makes this a really special series, is even if a character gets 30 seconds of dialogue time like Uhura, its important and memorable.


The acting and dialogue were top notch once again with Anson Mount just being natural in his Pike skin.


They also have some real vicious humor in this series. The age old scene of watching a conversation in a bar and giving it your own dialogue was done brilliantly by Ortega and M'Benga, and Spocks apology for his outburst was brilliant.


I still a want the final episode of this series to have the Enterprise going into refit and some designer walking through the bridge screaming "Less high tech touchscreens, more plastic jewelry buttons and more pastel colors lots of pastel colors."

Holy hell...now that...was some fine ass Star Trek...what an episode.

I love a good courtroom episode! That was top-notch television, and one of the Trekiest episodes of Trek I've seen in a long time. This entire series has been pure joy so far.

Yes. That was the closest thing to a TNG episode I have seen since, literally, TNG.

Good old fashioned courtroom Trek

Probably the best start to a second season of Trek since TOS.

Its funny because they were pretty eager to ban Ilyrians because of genetic engineering to save lives.



Yet they allow Deltan's that are super horny pheromone spewing bald sex machines on a star ship, and all they have to do is sign a piece of paper swearing off sex.


We all saw what sitting beside her did to poor Chekov.

Well yeah that's sorta what politicians have done throughout time.
