I like the neighbourhood getting denser, but I was hoping that street would remain just retail and not all towers ... even though some of those stores really suck.
Pretty sure all the condos going up on 10th St will include retail at street level, and furthermore the population increase will drive up retail demand. It'll still be a retail-heavy area, only now there will be people living above the retail.

Fear not, it is retail at ground level. Offices up above (for some proposals), Ant Hill also has a small boutique hotel element and then residential on the top floors.

Is there any chance this thing gets washed out in the flood tonight? It would be such a shame after only being completed a year ago

God, could you imagine having to sink even more money to repair it.

No. Put it this way; If the peace bridge gets washed out, then this city will have a hell of a lot more to worry about than the peace bridge getting washed out.

If any bridge goes, it will be the partially complete St. Patrick's Island bridge. I'm not sure the temporary construction bridge is made to be submerged.

I would assume these bridges are supported by piles and welded to the bridge. So it doesnt matter if the banks wash out the bridge would be supported.

St patricks is definately more of a concern. I wonder if in the construction plan flooding was addressed.

The yellow bars are usually the structural supports. The grey scaffolding is just for workers and equipment. So looks okay still

I'm confused, some of the yellow bars seem to be at an angle they shouldn't be at.

Those are still scaffolding supports, not anything with the bridge though, right?

No, believe they're supports for the concrete deck above them (same thing you see on newly poured floors of concrete condos, etc). Hopefully someone more in the know can say if its the temp deck, and/or if it was recently placed/poured.

Yup, I meant to get back to this thread. I rang up my brother and showed him those pictures. He's running his own scaffolding company now. His first reaction was "holy ####".
