Do we really need both Turner and Vogelbach in the lineup?

If the alternative is Clement the way he's currently playing, then the answer is yes.

Yeah Vogelbach has been hitting the ball very well lately. I like the idea of subtracting defense in the hopes of generating more offence. They need to win this game/series.

I think it's getting to desperate measures from the manager and seeing what happens when Turner Voglebach and Vlad are in the same lineup.

Fair. Even then I don’t mind it. Hitting has been atrocious this year. Trying anything to change that is worth it.

Might as well give Vlad a shot at 3B. If he's not a total tire fire then it's a better spot for him. 1B is easier to fill and they really need to call up Horwitz and give him an extended look.

Given how sweaty and slow Bassitt looks in the early innings, can't imagine how he'd look in a CG.
The way Bo is absolutely mailing it in these last few games, if Vogelbach is hitting, I'd put him at SS over Bichette.

Good to see replay is awful in other sports as well.
100% clearly safe on the replay, don’t overturn it.

Atkins quoted as saying he doesn’t think trading Vlad and Bo makes any sense but the rest of his statement just means right now. Sounds like they’d want to drum up interest and do it in the offseason. It’s a lip service statement.

Most GMs are cliche machines and masters of wordsmithing, and Atkins is the top of the class there, aided by Shapiro who is cut from the same cloth.
What also "doesn't make sense" is how the team is performing 2 months into the season, so there's that...1 game out of 4 they look like a decent team, they scramble to win another game out of the 4, and lose the other two of the 4 with anemic offensive efforts.

As I watch Soto blast another one for the Yanks, maybe not to early to figure out if the Jays take a big run at him in the offseason?
He's a free agent after this year.
In this Yanks West coast trip he was asked about returning to San Diego, and he says he learned how baseball is a business while in SD, and he's looking out for the best for him. Ir he's not committed to the Yanks either.
Don't know enough about the guy off the field but he doesn't seem like a total jerk. Washington couldn't afford him thus the trade to SD. Turns out SD couldn't either (though Boras said if the owner was still alive Soto would still be there). Does he want to be "the man" on a team? He would'nt be with Machado and Tatis Jr in SD on long term deals, same with Judge in NY.
Move Vlad and Bo, or maybe just Bo, and Soto would be the face of the franchise which is maybe what he wants? No idea.
Jays would have to do a massive overpay but I think they would. He's no Ohtani but he's a pretty good player and the Jays if this season goes as it appears, would be facing an identity crisis on offense.

Personally, my answer is a resounding NO, they should not go for him. Apparently he's going to be asking for an Ohtani type deal. Nobody is going to give him that but he's a franchise player and someone is likely to overpay (instead of $700, he'll probably get $550). I don't think any player at all is worth that money because of injury risk, and inevitable age catching up to them in the bottom half of these long deals. That's just the rule of thumb to this point.
Then I look at the Jays and they're far from a contender, with little prospects in the pipeline. It's a given KK and guys playing a role should be dealt at the deadline, but I doubt they'll get a substantial return. So that leaves Bo and Vlad to be dealt (which I've said is their only chance at bringing in value for long term because of their poor prospect base). So what value would there be to have one superstar on the team? I think when the team is rebuilding it'll likely kill his work ethic too, and so you'd have an expensive paperweight on the books. There's a time and place for signing guys like him, and if the Jays were where we thought they were two years ago, that would've been the time if he was available.

Agree on principal but I think he's produced in contract and non contract years since he was 18.
1 superstar is better than zero-ish.
Massive overpay but maybe it's a shorter 5 or 6 year deal and Soto chases another big contract in 2030 as the cap goes up and he's only 31.
I am sure said contract can also be filled with various opt outs for both side so he isn't a paper weight for the team or a malcontent if it gets that way.
