That was excellent. This show f'n rules.

The dedication to Nichelle Nichols at the end was a really nice touch. "Hailing frequencies forever open." Awesome.

Carol Kane is such a great addition. It's like she's been part of the cast all along

Is this show actually good?I skimmed an episode and it was pure cringe, looked all wrong. I get that it can take the whole thing to get context and feel....

Yeah...because all of the characters are fleshed out like real people and they have something to do that contributes to the story.

Its not just all doom and tragedy until Mike saves the day.

This show is great!

M'Benga just might be my favorite all time Star Trek doctor now, what a badass. I really hope Paramount just gives the keys to the entire Trek kingdom to the SNW show runners, they're the only ones that truly understand this franchise right now

M'Benga is pretty kickass, but come on...McCoy?

I like a Doctor with bit of grim sass and a lack of bedside manner.

If you are interested in the changes to Klingons over the years, this is a good article on it. I think, I don't know enough about them to verify any facts.

*puts on CC hat like in the SW Thread*

In the now concluded Trek Litverse it states that there are both Klingons impacted by the augment virus and 'regular' Klingons existing during the 23rd century simultaneously. The smooth foreheads are generally looked down on, so that's why they mostly served together during that period and why we didn't see the ridges till the movies. Also the virus must have been cured because of how the TOS 3 Klingons look in DS9.

(also the augment virus is one of my least favorite things in canon right up there with a spore drive. it's not something that needed to be explained in canon)

Yeah, I get that theory, because its been pushed out there. But it kind of falls apart in the original series, where the Klingons are all smooth heads, and their "Great warriers" like Kang (God Colicos was a great Klingon) were the smooth headed folks.

As long as we ignore the atrocious discovery Klingons. I remember first seeing them and going WTF is with that. On top of it, I've always thought that Klingon ship design was iconic. Their ships looked like warships. They had this industrial heavy look even a scout like the BOP (which is an incredible design). Also Klingon ships just made sense. In Discovery they were going for a Andy Warhol combination with the alien design from Aliens, and ended up goofy.

Anyways loved the Spock partying with the Klingon scene last night.

Spoiler!

DS9 was at it's best when it had the overarching Dominion war, but they still had plenty of stand alone episodes as well. Hopefully that's the balance that SNW will go for as well

Seriously, you could tell just with the intro scene that this was going to be great. Loved every moment of that episode!

they've always said the format of SNW was more episodic with some story elements carrying over though out. Contrasted with how Picard and Disco approach their storytelling. Lower Decks sorta does the same thing as SNW tbh.

and yeah, I hear you about the Disco Klingon ships. That's why you had a plot point where you see L'Rell introing the D7 lol

So...I'm not going to go through all of it...but out of all of its iterations...how many times has the Enterprise been 'stolen?'

It has to be the ship in Starfleet that has experienced the most rampant larceny.

I kind of want to see them install an ignition key in it like in a motorhome.

"Alright, Enterprise is in SpaceDock...give me the key. Its going in the safe!"

And was I the only one kind of hoping it would end with Pike coming back:

And it's only ever stolen by a handful of officers. Starfleet must be the biggest jobs grant in the universe with thousands of people on each ship, but only a dozen or so are actually needed to fly the things

Ya know...the whole..."We dont use money" thing is really just a re-invention of slavery.

"We undertake grueling and dangerous work for the betterment of Humanity!"

Uh huh. Sure you do.
