We currently have 8 healthy defencemen, 9 if Sieloff comes back, 10 if Wotherspoon comes back and then potentially some from ATO's when college/junior ends.
Ramage is the youngest (minus Sieloff) of the group currently in Abbotsford and since they are gearing up for the playoffs, they look to be keeping on the veterans over the first year rookie.
Seems fairly straightforward to me. Nothing that controversial.

I like it. Playing heavy minutes in Alaska is better for Ramage than being a healthy scratch in Abbotsford all the time IMO.

Also, he has been scratched a lot recently, has he not?
Maybe they want to get him some ice-time.
Or maybe TGW is some kind of major delta bravo who hates fine, upstanding young players and wants to ruin their careers.
One or the other is my guess.

Ramage last played March 9th. He was scratched during last weekends games and then a couple prior to that.
We have too many D-men on the team. Obviously if we can ice 3 as forwards in an emergency. It seems like it would be a move to get some ice time.

I don't know when I challenged his numbers before he was given a lot of support here and not that many pages ago some where saying he deserved a shot with the Flames, and now….what a fickle group…many are like wheat blowing in the wind. He's had 50 games not great numbers but is a good shut down guy

you didn't challenge his numbers, you just said he's just here because of bloodlines. Also, who said he deserved a shot with the Flames? Can't remember anything like that.

Ramage has a good head on his shoulders. Everything else needs some work. Alaska's the right place for him, especially with playoffs coming up.

If this is the case, RFP must stand for Really Fat Player.

Ramage hasn't been all that great since about the new year. It's telling when Lafranchise and Davies are outplaying you.

Then why keep him for 50 games….agree with comments about Lafranchise and Davis….there are others on the Aces who could have come up much earlier and been better for their development

seems like the Heat have signed 22 year old center Allan McPherson to an ATO, according to the AHL transactions page.
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=131786
just recently completed his college career at Clarkson University with 32 points in 42 games this season. He is 5-10 and 181, according to the Clarkson website.

Article on McPhereson from last month:
http://watertowndailytimes.com/artic...TS03/702289975
Quote:
Ever since he arrived on the Clarkson University campus four years ago, Allan McPherson has brought a passion for the game of hockey that few can match.
After a game, whether it’s a win, loss or tie, McPherson will provide analysis that sounds almost like you are talking to one of the coaches on the team, not a player. And if Clarkson happens to lose, you can tell just how hard it has affected him by his mannerisms.
“I’ve cared about the game ever since I was young, maybe too much sometimes,” McPherson said. “I kind of take it back with me. That comes with the maturing process. You can’t get too down when you lose and too up when you win. I’ve been like that my whole life, really passionate for the game.”
Clarkson head coach Casey Jones has observed the same passionate traits in the senior from Kinburn, Ontario.
“He’s a good teammate,” Jones said. “He holds guys accountable within the locker room and holds himself accountable to a high standard and self-evaluates properly. That’s a good trait of a good player.”
The best trait McPherson has brought to Clarkson is his consistency, both in his performance on the ice and the way he goes about preparing for practices and games.”

Sounds like a guy Ward is going to love.

I never had a problem with Ramage's game. It was one-dimensional, but not in the bad way. I suppose having the chance to play big minute in the ECHL will help his confidence and round out the other aspects of his game.

Also with the news that Wideman is unlikely to return this season, Heat likely won't get Wotherspoon back till after the Flames season is done.

Looks like the cavalry is on its way eh? Kinda surprised Hanowski hasn't been sent down given that Agostino is in Calgary for the duration of the season.
