Even if that was true it wouldn't matter, you would need every cent because your dollar wouldn't be worth anything, and the price of everything would be through the roof

Correct. Once again...people underestimate the complexity of Economics.
You cant just change 1 factor and assume that everything else will remain ceteris paribus.
That is a fundamental flaw. They did the exact same BS with Brexit.
"Leave the EU and look at all this extra money we'll have!!!!! ZOMG!!!"
Did all of that 'extra money' to save the NHS ever materialize? Nope.
It is just more complicated than that.

I saw the Alberta sovereignty people at eau Claire today and told them they’re ####ing losers and to get a life. Both times I walked by it was 3 incel looking dudes with a big banner and no one talking to them.
I saw the forever canadian petition a couple weeks ago near fort calgary and it was swamped. So that feels like a moral victory.

If I was the rest of Canada, just out of spite I would ensure Alberta was no longer allowed to use Canadian currency just to add an extra bit of burden to every transaction.

Without even punching in a deduction, their math is wrong. I mean, it's not surprising, but how are people so ####ing stupid?
https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/t...ulator/alberta
And yes, I know they made up some other stuff to make it look worse. I guess Alberta won't have a CPP or EI system? They'll add ~ $3000 to provincial taxes cover all the stuff the feds pay for now, plus property and education portions with $9500, plus GST dollars, and all the other incomes sources the feds have to keep taxes down? Presumably this won't included health care, since that's about $1200 per person transferred from the feds. For a family of four, well math is math.
They've been writing their own bull#### for so long with magic markers they actually believe this #### is real now.
This is what I mean when I say we should in no way offer these mother####ers an ounce of respect if they make any headway. We fight them every step, we don't go "oh, ok, ya, let's see what we can do for you with all this support you've bull####ted your way into." They should be arrested and bared from any public advocacy until they can at least figure out how math works. I cant believe we have to tolerate such stupidity, and worse, that so many Albertans will fall for it.

Until a separation-supporting government comes out with their projections this is all butt-gas. Not much better if a separation-supporting government comes out with it but at least they can be held accountable and might have an ounce of restraint.

But Smith is. She put out the bull#### APP projections where Alberta was due nearly half of all the CPP. She is apart of the bull#### show, and below you can see her lie directly to Albertans while an actual economist sits there wondering where he went so wrong in his decisions this week to put him in the same shot as this lying ####. Listen to the tone of her voice, and tell me she isn't fully behind separation.

How do you not think this government is separation supporting. She can’t even begin to start to defend Canada and Alberta being a part of it. She is one hundred percent throwing fuel at this fire and hoping it burns, she would gleefully thinks she might be a state governor at one point.

Oh I think they support it. What I meant is when they come out and as the government make specific promises about how great separation will be. Crazy lawyer can say whatever he wants but if the premier says people will save $x in taxes that’s a stake in the ground they can be held to. So far they are playing coy and letting the APP guys carry the separatist water.

Did you watch the video I posted? That's essentially what she said while speaking at the separatist organized event. "It is $5000 per Albertan that gets transferred out of this province for political reasons so the Liberals can continue to spend it on places that vote Liberal." No, it's not "government policy" on letterhead, but if this doesn't tell you all you need to know about her separatist ambitions, I don't know what else you need to see. If that's what you need to see to be convinced, well she's counting on that. She'll do everything but that.
This is all obvious bull####.

Danielle Smith and the UCP will probably win another majority in two years. They have been unquestionably the worst government in my lifetime between corruption, incompetence, and plain stupidity but it doesn't seem to matter to folks in small town Alberta or suburban Calgary. They'll probably win the new coal mine area on th Eastern Slopes by over 70% , ffs. Looking at the electoral map, it's hard to find a path for NDP victory.
I truly love being a Canadian and living in Alberta but the direction is obviously worrisome. Especially with three kids entering school age. I work remotely and could easily move from a career perspective but I really don't want to.
Question for the group: Is there anything we can actually do as sane calgarians to change the government?

For the life of me I can't figure out why that Trevor Toombe guy would go on the Alberta next panel. He seemed like a rational, boring economist. I guess I do know. He, like so many others, must crave the so-called power and celebrity.

The NDP just has to do two things to win.
#1 change the party name to the Alberta Democratic Party.
#2 act like the Lougheed conservatives. That fits right into most of their policy positions, anyway. Its what Alberta wants, is a center conservative government. That position is so far left of the UCP, it will make them look like Greens, and they won't lose the tree huggers.

I would guess they needed at least one adult present on the panel.
Did he actually say anything that called out what nonsense the whole thing is? He looked like a scolded dog in that clip, if dogs could think to themselves "oh for f-ck's sake".

I only partially agree, the UCP wouldn't be trying to gerrymander riding if their behavior and policies weren't hurting their odds. There also seems to be a general disdain for Maga style populism that should also hurt their odds. There should also be some vote splitting ith the Alberta Republican party and a possible PC party starting up. The separation issue should also hurt the UCP, especially if we can get the stay referendum passed.
It will be hard fought, but there is hope. There would be more than hope too if Albertans would mass protest like we were French. Nenshi also needs to call Danielle and her scum cronies what they are, maple maga fascists.

^ I heard Nenshi is only gonna do it if you post this in ONE MORE CalgaryPuck thread. Only posting this in two threads two minutes apart shows a lack of conviction on your part.
