That is the difference between conservative-grifter-who-says-popular-things and real populists who care about the people and will implement policies that improves the quality of life for the people they represent and try to maintain control of government for the people instead of for corporations and billionaires.
People who have voted blue their whole lives because they felt the progressive conservatives of old represented the needs of the people have to wake up to the fact that there is only one populist party left and that is the NDP. We really need more and more people to join the provincial and federal NDP and ensure they stay populist and not flip to a neoliberal "Liberal-lite" party.
Bonus for the angry confused truck drivers: They can still want to F Trudeau from the NDP.

How about just basic rights that other people in other provinces have?

Ironically though blood was already spilled on getting these rights so for those of us who would rather not have history repeat itself we don’t think it’s too much to ask that our elected officials don’t actively try to bring us back there.

I actually agree with you for the most part, its kind of why I took a hyperbolic position. Obviously wanting modern workers rights has nothing to do with the Russian Revolution, but the people standing in the way of those rights almost seem to feel like it is.
"If we give the workers their rights then the barbarians are at the gates and we'll lose all control!"
Which is a preposterous position to hold, hence holding up the mirror of an equally preposterous position to illustrate that fact.
Hence the wholeheartedly sarcastic "hey...if thats how they think, lets frame it that way to obviously demonstrate how ridiculous it is."
But dont worry about BigChief over there, 95% of his posts are literally just whining about other people's posts and how his are better, the mouse-scroll wheel is your friend.

It is a problem when you throw power hungry people into the mix. What should have been a populist movement to give power to the people slipped into dictatorship, at which point they were only communist in name.
Perhaps this time the answer is AI. Instead of giving the power to a single person who will do horrible things with it, you can give it to skynet.
At this point I think skynet would be a kinder leader than any of the conservative movement. You would just need to figure out how to secure the code to ensure it is not being corrupted by those same power hungry people that you are trying to replace with the AI.

A decade ago IBM was already claiming that Watson (their AI) would be able to handle 95% of the role of of the president of the US and likely do a better job of it than a human. The 5% it couldn't do is walk around and shake hands.
Fast forward a decade and I absolutely think that if you could trust the team building the AI then you would be able to assemble an AI that could govern Alberta better than the UCP and perhaps better than any humans. With an AI, you could probably put an app on everyone's phones and when a big decision needs to be made you could push a notification to the population for a quick vote.
Essentially it is the path to the first true techno-democracy that would also be the most populist form of government that implements Direct Democracy (engaging the people in policy votes instead of representatives).
Imagine the cost savings if you got rid of all of the MLAs.
