It's their Tim Horton's. The gravy is pretty decent, I liked the spicy fried chicken but not something I'd seek out.

Jollibee was replacement level fast food when I tried it. Everything was weird, I can't explain it. Like the texture was off and the taste was a little too sweet or something.

Little too sweet is kind, I believe the biggest import in the Philippines is Type 2 Diabetes. You know what spaghetti shouldn't be? A sugary treat.

Always love sale scams at grocery stores. My favourite brand of cheap bacon at Safeway is usually $5.99. Today it's on an end cap as a huge weekly sale. Buy two get the third free...except they jacked the price up to $9.99 for the sale.
So now I have to buy more and pay more per package for the privilege of buying it during a "huge sale!" $20 for three instead of $18 when not on sale.

My brother has Spinal Stenosis and a Degenerative back disease. He's had 3 back operations and a couple on his neck. He has reached a point where he will never be able to play golf again. Titanium rods and screws are what's keeping his back together. To be able to walk pain free is his goal.

What makes fried chicken the GOAT is its wide range of edible temperatures.

I'm just finding that I'm getting tired of fried chicken, you cant swing a dead cat in a room without hitting a half-dozen fried chicken joints and they're largely so similar as to be indistinguishable.
I'm looking for a place that makes a strong bird, like Kenny Rogers' Roasters!

Yeah, a few years ago when Korean fried chicken places were popping up every other week, with each new one being "the best fried chicken in Calgary, OMG!!!!", I tried all of them. You could have swapped the name or chicken amongst any of them for me I wouldn't notice. All extremely similar and mostly just ok.

Exactly my experience as well, although granted I didnt try all of them, I just got tired of it.
Like you said, similar and just ok.
I like chicken but anyone can dunk a bird in a vat of grease, completely interchangeable.

Cluck & Cleaver is great fried chicken as well, but it's a bit pricier as far as takeout joints go.
And +1 for Mary Browns, had it for the first time last summer, I was shocked at how good it was.

I'm an enthusiastic DIYer as much as the next guy, but I think you should put those screws back in.

When you reassemble your spine and have screws left over like IKEA furniture...

They are a sample of the screws and titanium rods that were put in his back. I almost gagged when he showed them to me

KFC for me is a real 'Sophie's Choice.'
It is delicious. I also like their sides. But within an hour of consumption I'd better be near a bathroom that nobody is particularly fond of because that chicken goes through me like a Japanese Bullet-Train.
My 'Go To' for fried chicken is actually Chicken-on-the-Way, but failing that, it would be Mary Brown's. There was a Mary Brown's across from my old office.
If you wonder if I ever had Holy Smoke BBQ ribs, the Barnyard Burger and Mary Brown's chicken for lunch one time? Yes. Yes I have. I believe I was in a coma for a bit after that.
My Doctor was appalled.
"You...I've told you, you can't do this. You're not a teenager anymore. That lunch borders on a War Crime..."
Yes but...I walked to both restaurants to pick up the food and walked back to the office so...it should net out?
"No."

We all do.
I used to go there all the time because it was a 3 minute walk from my office. What happened to that place? The only thing I can think of is that they didnt charge enough?
It was always packed. Lineups out the door. I'd go early to avoid the rush because I was so close.
But drop $10 for ribs and thats lunch. Done. The Barnyard burger was a crime. Their pulled pork was divine. Those guys knew how to cook swine.

I'd be curious to know what happened too. I know they opened other locations but they all sucked compared to the original. Owner sold it to somebody that expanded and then ran it into the ground maybe?

I always found it funny too, not Holy Smoke in general, but my friends would always think:
"You're eating lunch in the Industrial Sector?"
Yes. Eat lunch in the Industrial Sector. You want to know what guys who drive trucks, lift product or work in warehouses for a living really, really take seriously? Lunch. Its lunch.

Its possible, I genuinely dont know. It just seems to me that all one would have to do is just let it run the way it was running. Do nothing. Change nothing. Profit.
I do remember them starting up a 'food truck.' It was more of a BBQ trailer, but I dont know how that went.
