So many parallels between the Jays and Flames it's uncanny really. I do think that if they miss the playoffs Atkins will be gone. His only playoff wins come from 2016 when he inherited AA's team. At some point you have to look at results to evaluate a GM. And at this point they're just not there.

While I respectfully disagree between the parallels between the Flames and Jays as the Jays are a team that is spending heavily on development, privately funding a lot of stadium improvements, and signed elite FAs that have worked out very well (Springer, Gausman, Bassit). I think the Jays are for the most part a much better run organization than the Flames...
However I agree with you regarding Atkins and believe his job is on the line this season as well. The hiring of Click as VP of Baseball Strategy is essentially a GM in waiting and could easily slide into Atkins role. The Varsho trade is looking worse every day and is looming large over this season already. Varsho is 3 for his last 35 right now.

We have to be near the top of the league in hitting into double plays.

Wait. How long did Tampa get to decide to challenge that?? Seemed like they got a lot longer than 15 seconds. Moot point now, as they lost the challenge, but that was curious.

The blocking the line challenge might be the biggest stupid loophole in the game. It’s incredibly stupid. Maybe they need to come up with a more serious penalty for that losing that specific type of challenge.

Has Varsho ever tried not rolling over the ball and grounding out weekly to first??? I thought he was supposed to have excellent bat control and the ability to shoot the ball the otherway. He's just absolutely awful to watch right now.

Gotta tip your cap to the Rays. They are genuinely just a very very good team. Incredible D, amazing power, great starters.

Must be nice to have your gamebreaking players do gamebreaking things.
At least the Jays are better than the Padres. As they say, misery loves company.

Feels like 2011, Jays becoming the whipping boy of this division. Disaster of a month

You need Varsho to provide balance…to Kirk for doing the same thing to SS.

Just another double play. Ho hum.
So glad I pulled the trigger on a trip to Toronto to watch this team play in June. At least it'll be against the Athletics. Surely they can win 1 or 2 of those games.

Well, as I usually end up saying fairly early on in my team's seasons - There's always next year.

I don't care what anyone says here, the runners have to keep the pitcher guessing that they'll steal to advance both guys to scoring position.
