The onion rings are embedded in the patty? Or melted in the cheese? Bummer, that's a non starter for me in that case.

I was about 10 minutes for my order, which is fine. Agreed on portion sizes. The double patty burger is almost a meal itself. I also got lucky as I normally don't like onion rings in burgers, so I asked if it could be on the side. She said "I mean it's only like one or two onion rings".
But then they ended up giving me the two rings in the burger PLUS a full order of Onion rings on the side, plus the fries that I paid for on the side.

They also tell you "Is 10 minutes okay"?
And there's a sign saying it'll be a wait.
I mean, it's not fast food, and I am will to spend a few minutes to get a burger that isn't microzapped in a little oven in the back.

Melted in the cheese, not in the patty.

There were 6 of us so it was about 25 minutes. I guess 10 x 60 would have been 60 minutes

I grabbed some Burger Mechanic yesterday. I appreciated the two 'smash' patties and the nice cheese. The bacon is also smashed, paper thin . To be honest though, the burger was pretty standard. Had with onion rings, and if you like thin onion rings, they are pretty good. I received the free desert, which was nice of them as they try to grow the business. Layout and tables are interesting.
Overall not bad, but not great. I don't think it would be my go to in the area. I'd actually grab Lil' Empire over at Annex Ale if it's open.

I've hit this a few times and it has always been good.
Like the fries and the burgers are also good.

The "Mac Burger" at Donna Mac on 10 Ave @ 9 St SW is delicious if you're looking for a burger. Just a really, really satisfying cheeseburger.

Yeah fair.
Both times I've gone I've been hungry.
Also, these types of places I find the food can vary depending on the person working

Been to both Vero and Model Milk recently.
Vero wasn’t bad but for the price it was disappointing. The steak was good. But the fries were fast food or pub quality at best. I’d be absolutely shocked if they were made from scratch in house. The gnocchi was ok. The Arrosticini was decent but were tiny. I liked the crème brûlée but the ricotta cheesecake (I think?) was disappointing. Cocktails were meh.
Overall food was fine but value for the price was very poor. I wouldn’t go back. I’d maybe give it a 6/10?
Model Milk on the other hand was amazing. About the same price point but everything was phenomenal. The shrimp toasties were delicious, the 18oz ribeye was ridiculously good. And the Brussels sprouts and potatoes it came with were to both top notch. Cocktails were great.
We were so stuffed we only had coffee and no dessert so I can’t rate them there.
Bills at both places were very similar but at model milk I savoured every bite and felt like I got full value for the price.
The staff was also better at MM. The only thing is our entree took quite a while but it was well worth the wait. We didn’t mind one bit. I can’t wait to go back. 10/10 across the board.

The last time I was at Model Milk, the fried chicken came out raw and bleeding... When we pointed it out to the server, he tried to server-splain us that it was sous vide and that's how it's supposed to be and then got all huffy when we insisted it be done again. I haven't been back since - and frankly haven't even considered them - but maybe worth another try.

Sous vide chicken will never be raw and bleeding, what looks like blood is myoglobin, fairly common in chicken near the bone - if it's there, it doesn't matter how long you cook it, the red/bloody appearance is not going away. Not sure how the server expressed it, but likely sending it back to be cooked more would not have made a difference in how it looked. If it did, they probably gave you different pieces.
