I don’t see why, with retention, he couldn’t return something similar or maybe a little less b/c of his age. There’s a reason 20 teams have called the flames about him.

bit of an understatement...a 1st for Coleman would be a major win

Yeah but it'll be a late first which is apparently now a 2nd.

lol, also the Flames have played as many rookies as anyone in the league...they will likely have 3 rookie dmen as regulars by the end of the season which is very rare

He’s absolutely getting a first… I just wonder how close he could get to the 2020 deal.
His age is something, but his return is about how productive he’ll be this season and next in the playoffs. His Stanley cup winning pedigree, which he didn’t have in 2020, offsets the age concerns quite a bit. As I said, he probably gets less than he did in 2020, but I think it won’t be too much less (1st and a 2nd or a 1st and a B prospect)

Dunno man. Rhd are hard to come by. I’m sure hockey ops ppl know Calgary is terrible which is the reason for his underlying numbers, not the other way around.
Body of work speaks for itself. And circumstances have changed since he signed. If he loves the city and doesn’t wanna move, yeah, he’s here. But gets a chance to compete for a cup and and see him peacing out.

What would it take for you to admit this tired trope isn’t currently true?

His age is largely irrelevant as he's playing very well and his contract just runs until the end of next year.

There were three rookies taking regular shifts last night but OK. They've played 8 rookies this year.

Yabbut, yabbut, yabbut… oh, I got it…
Yabbut that doesn't really count because those rookies are almost 40!

Hard to tell sometimes, isn't it?
There are still one or two posters who think the Flames can't possibly be rebuilding because they got Whitecloud back in the Andersson trade. You would think Vegas got a 1st and 2nd out of Calgary instead of vice versa.

LOL if someone actually thinks we're contending, think again. It sure doesn't look that way with how Conroy's been dealing away assets for the last couple of years.

Rumor has it no trades until after the break
Coleman and Kadri seem like last minute panic FOMO trades

Only a 10 day window after the Olympic break before the TDL

Also, the delay isn't being caused by the Flames. Teams are reluctant to make deals before the break because they don't want players taking up space on their cap for three weeks with no games.

GMs can discuss trades during the break though, it isn't a blackout from their perspective. They can't execute trades, but they can agree to them

The only hangup will be if a player's cooperation is needed. Not sure of the rules around asking for NTC waivers etc. Certainly extensions won't be negotiated.
