I hope that they can secure those Spanish welders in time.

I hope this city gets up in arms over something so trivial once again. It's fun to watch such minor infrastructure development get accentuated beyond reasonable proportions.

Great to see they designed a homeless gathering area in the middle of it.

I finally saw the Red bridge up close last week in person for the first time. I just don't travel that part of Memorial but a client was located not far from there.
I decided to have a walk across more so just out of curiosity. I still do not care for the exterior look of it at all, but the interior view is quite decent through the glass sides but then you look up and its like you are walking through the carcass of a gigantic dead reptile especially with the Red. Lol i dunno its just kind of unusual cosmetically speaking.
The price tag still makes me shake my head at its absurdity and location with relation to existing bridges that are a 2 min walk away.

Those existing bridges are not a 2 minute walk away. Pure nonsense. That is also ignoring the fact that the Peace bridge is much better suited to cyclists, bladers, walkers, and all users versus the horribly small LRT bridge and Louise bridge.

There is no place for facts in discussions of this bridge.

The issue was capacity - particularly for cyclists, not necessarily walking distance, though that certainly doesn't hurt.
The existing bridges are not wide enough for cyclists to safely ride over, period.
When a roadway needs more capacity, they build another lane - directly beside the other ones - THE HORROR!
"it's too close to the other bridges" should never be mentioned again.
As to the pricetag - it simply is what a bridge of that length and width costs, which has been backed up by the costs of bridges in other cities, Calgary's own St Patrick's island bridge, etc.
To put it really simply, the bridge was needed, and was built for approximately what a bridge with the required specifications should cost.

So much for $50M Twin bridges; now we're talking $75M TRIPLET bridges. When will the madness end? I hope Pavin' Dave Bron-crete is happy with what Silly Hall has created, all the latte sipping historians from Ft. Calgary and Inglewood get all the money, while tax paying suburbparasites get no more interchanges.

Actually this bridge is only supposed to call $3M, but will probably end up costing $100M amirite?

As long as it doesn't cause a dramatic increase in the price of a latte here in Calgary I am ok with any and all cost overruns!

I don't think there's a single "complaint" about it here that isn't sarcasm.

If this casuses your head to shake I suggest you avoid Paris, London, Melbourne etc... Turns out there are some world class cities that also have bridges in close proximity. With your walking speed they would probably only be seconds apart.
Any one know if Napolean was found of latte's?
