Calgary's offense would be potent...

Gaudreau - Monahan - Nylander
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Neal
Frolik - Backlund - Ryan
Bennett - Jankowski - Czarnik

Kypreos saying Seguin as an UFA July 1st is becoming more likely:

Nick Kypreos @RealKyper
@DallasStars in spot light with camp looming. While they remain in the hunt for Karlsson, word is Seguin/Stars contract talks are at a standstill and have been for quite some time. Long term remains priority for Seguin but the Tavares route becomes viable option as time passes.

These kids would be crazy not to go UFA. I bet Gaudreau does the same (unless Flames have built themselves into a contender by then).

Took me 5 reads to figure out what the heck he meant by that last sentence... couldn’t have just been me.

The wording isn’t great but seems clear he wants a long term deal as a starting point but as time passes the route of going to free agency where there may be a bidding war for his services like Tavares is becoming more attractive.

Or is the Toronto Media Personality implying that the Brampton-born Seguin may be interested in the Tavares situation that culminated with the Mississauga-born Tavares ending up in Toronto?

They could probably do that at a cost of icing a blue line that even Peter Chiarelli would scoff at.

I wonder if a Karlsson for Seguin 1 for 1 would be possible at this point.

Doubt Dallas would have interest in that.

Doubt Ottawa would either. Seguin is going to want big dollars, I think they want picks/prospects.

Make zero sense for Ottawa, who will want more than a one year rental when they are rebuilding.

I could see that happening - Stars would get an actual D man and be able to ice a playoff-bound roster, trading from their glut of offense. Then they use Seguin's money to sign Karlsson.

Ottawa could flip Seguin to a contender nearer the deadline for picks/prospects from that team.

Highly doubt Ottawa is a destination on his modified NTC.

SJ has a Tavares sized hole in their cap structure that Seguin would fit in nicely.

Just saying.

My best guess as per Seguin. The Stars hold onto him up to the trade deadline in hopes of making the playoffs or signing an extension. If neither happen they trade him for a ridiculous amount to a team loading up for a playoff run.

Or Ottawa could trade a full season of Karlsson for more now.

Dallas is currently a one line team. They would now be a 2/3rds line team. Dallas was 18th in team scoring last year. There is no glut of offense.
