Boy those Heritage Point founders are glad they sold last year....

The golf pro and greens superintendent are both on contracts and need to be paid. Then you have the person who manages the finances and pays the bills each month. On top of that you have the dues that members pay for the year. It's partially used to help keep the course going until it opens and they have revenue coming in from green fees, cart rentals and food and beverage sales in the clubhouse. Those will have to be returned or a portion of is courses open later and or are closed for the summer.
Right now they are paying staff to clean up and preparing the course for a possible open in a few months. It's the uncertainty that's going to drive up the cost at golf courses. From a financial point of view it might be better if the province said no courses will open this summer.

This is where the smart money is. Prepping for an early opening is lunacy.
It's even smarter to do major maintenance (tees, bunkers, irrigation) if the club has enough money to float it. Keeps workers employed and doesn't prevent the club from opening if that's allowed by the government.

Yeah, the course where I am is opening up today. 15 minute tee times. There is 0 human contact. You book your tee time online, you pay using a machine that's set up outside the pro shop with no one actually operating it. Pro shop, practice greens, range, everything else but the course is closed. There are no flags - the cups are inverted. You show up, you play, and you leave. Simple and effective.
They also say you'll get kicked off the course if you don't maintain 6 feet from other players.
I suspect that it's going to be pretty busy this week because it's been closed for a little while.

Sure, as long as you can open beers for me while I’m driving.

PGA Tour officials will announce this week a new date for the resumption of play that has been suspended due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, according to a Golf Digest report.
According to the report on Tuesday that cited multiple people who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, originally scheduled for May 21-24, will restart the PGA Tour season June 11-14. The report also said the tournament would be played without spectators.

Well I guess we know now -- if you really want to get rid of 'mashed potatoes' and 'get in the hole' guy all it takes is a global pandemic.

"We know that you look forward to this time of year as much as we do and so we understand your dissapointment following last week's annoucement that golf courses would be included in the public health order and mandated to remain closed at this time. With that said, we remain optimistic that we will be permited to open up under some new operating processes sooner rather than later."
This is the email from Woodside Golf I received today. Dream on, guys.
