Baertschi "very doubtful" for this weekend. Blair's been playing through injuries and he's unlikely to play this weekend as well.

When it rains it pours.

The good news is Sven will make the road trip next week.

Do we know what's wrong with Sven? His injury seemed to come out of nowhere.

"Middle body." No specifics.

PMM, any chance you can sneak into Ward's office and put this up on his door? He might need a little help with all these injuries/call-ups.

Hahaha. We'd have to hope he doesn't have a steady, accurate dart throw or else we'd have a lineup of 6 fourth lines.

It would make for a great chance of pace in interview questions. Instead of constant questions about injuries and call-ups:

"So Coach Ward, you have faith in your 4th line...for every line...for EVERY position?"

Heat sign college free agent:

Mark Divver @MarkDivver
Brown winger Garnet Hathaway agrees to AHL deal with Abbotsford for rest of this season and next. Had interest from multiple teams

6'2'' 212lb Right shooting RW:

Mark Divver @MarkDivver
With Brian Burke in charge, Calgary farm team could be good fit for a physical winger like Hathaway. Tough to play against.

Born in that hockey factory of Naples, FL.... pretty much straight across Alligator Alley from Sunrise, FL where the Panthers play.

EDIT: Looks like he's actually a Mainer.

I hope it doesn't take long to see why they call him John Hathaway once he gets into the Heat lineup.

Like seeing a birth certificate and realizing his middle name of John is a much better than Garnet

When is this guy going to be in the lineup and should there be any expectations for him? I can see he wasn't a huge scorer or anything, but is he a legitimate prospect or is he just helping the heat with the lineup problems?

Hathaway won't arrive until late tomorrow (Saturday) night. He'll likely get a few practices in before playing any games. He'll join the team on the road trip though.

Also, expect another minor signing this weekend.

Yale MAY get eliminated tomorrow and something COULD happen with Agostino (hedging my bets a bit). Similarly, Kulak's team is playing Portland and should be out quick (as in another two weeks).

Is Coda Gordon eligable to play if Swift Current gets eliminated?

They are facing the Hitmen in the first round and well, I can't imagine that's going to end well or take long.

It will be a good time to look and see if he's worth a NHL contract.

That's what I was thinking. He's also a LW and perhaps foolishly, I would prefer to see him get a look during the final stretch/ playoffs on the 4th line. I think Gordan might have more to contribute during that time then Gillies would.

Pretty tough for the Heat that this weekend Boston College probably has just as many guys likely to be part of the Flames future (Gaudreau/Arnold) as the Heat (Reinhart and Jooris)
