i wonder if they had Van Alden's character mapped out from the beginning, or if they're just winging it with him now. i do enjoy that his hottie Norwegian wife is starting to have a bigger role though
oh and is Billie actually dead? we never saw her body at the end

I think you have to assume she is - she was a lot closer to the blast than Nucky and they were still pretty messed up.

He planted the seed just like he did with Mellon. As news of Remus' arrest spreads and rumors of his newly acquired distillery leak out I would imagine they slowly come around. It's also possible that either one of them are also attacked by Gyp at some point in time.
Awesome episode.

Took me 6 months to get around to watching the first episode. After seeing the first episode I watched the next 32 in 5 days. The cold snowy weekend came at the perfect time. Great show.

Finally the show is picking up... only took 10 episodes. Bobby Cannavale is doing a great job.

I absolutely loved last Sundays episode, it caught us up with some characters we haven't seen in a while but it never felt forced. i love every minute Nucky was back to being ruthless, it was nice to see Harrow kick that drunks ass, Gyp baseball swing was impressive, Van Alden was pitiful as usual (i was he would just become a badass gangster) but the ending.......WOW!
It always seems that as soon as i really start liking a character, he gets killed, I was kind of expecting something but it was so astonishing to see him in that crate only to then reveal what he and Margaret had talked about, it was so sad. Just a wonderful show with intelligent writing and superb acting. Loved every episode this season and so looking forward to next Sunday.

Anyone else noticed Joe Masaria in the Dance Central 3 video game commercial as a soccer ref?

I thought it was great as well. This season has felt disjointed at times to me, but none of that showed in this episode. Best of the season, imo.
It'll be interesting to see where Nucky goes from here. It looks like he's really backed into a corner, but I highly doubt they're going to off the main character on the show.
My guess is that Harrow becomes his new hired gun to send after Masseria. That scene earlier in the season where Harrow told Nucky that he has no beef with him probably comes back into play now. In that exchange Nucky learned he's enough of a badass to get the job done and he doesn't have anyone else currently in his employ that could even come close.
I also think Nucky will make a deal with Chalky. Chalky will supply men to handle the blowback from offing Masseria and in exchange he'll get the club that he wants -- maybe the new Babbette's after they rebuild it.
At least that's what I hope happens. We've seen the calm before the storm, now it's time for some action and there's no better characters on the show for that than Harrow and Chalky.

I agree - Chalky and his muscle will play a big part in the war to get the club he wants. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eli play a larger role too.

I think we can agree the one thing we all want to see is Van Alden working for Capone. Please God make it happen. I suspect if Richard is going after anyone it'll be Gyp, but I still get the feeling Richard is going to take out Gillian and raise Tommy with his new girl.

What a show.

Didn't Nucky also send Eli to Chicago to talk to Torio/Capone?
I think he'll end up getting their support in some way.
Is it Sunday yet?!

That's what I was thinking. I can't really imagine Richard or Chalky coming to Nucky's rescue. I think Capone will be the guy that saves him.
