I've donated money and Mrs. Bigtime and myself have joined up to volunteer with Nenshi's campaign. We were just at the volunteer orientation last night, and I met fellow CP'er SebC.

I was there as well, and have donated to the campaign.
There must have been nearly as many CPers at Nenshi's volunteer session as at Holy Smoke's for lunch.

Okay, you sat on the RH side near the back.
I was the clean-shaven one wearing nice shoes , and sat on the RH side of the centre aisle

^ Where is the Nenshi campaign office?
I was at the more fun event last night....Kents rooftop concert. It was a very cool campaign event! Not saying that just because I'm a supporter either. It was just a good time and a lot of people were there.

They're opening a new one on 16th avenue - 615 16th ave NE, which is the former Calgary Auto.

Ha, of course he would open his offices in the knee (NE)! Gotta stick with his 'people'.
just kidding of course. As a Nenshi supporter(currently), its a good central location that's probably cheaper than borscht to rent.

It's not the real NE - it's west of Deerfoot

McIver still being a grumpy pants, boycotting the Bow River Flow street festival. I wonder if anyone was truly inconvenienced by closing down part of Memorial Drive.

Should be easy to tell. The city should put some of those traffic monitors there on Sundays to see how many vehicles use that section of Memorial durring those times.
If its 0 then no one was affected, if it was more than 0 then people would have been adversely affected, especially with 5th Ave SW under construction 2 weekends in a row (another fine example of construction where there didnt seem to be a need for it, unless of course I was missing all the potholes on 5th Ave).

I listened to the audio record of Bob Hawksworth on QR77 this morning talking about the airport tunnel, and he kept going off about it being a 3 km shortcut for people in the North East.
According to Google maps, the distance from McKnight to the airport is 5 km via Barlow, 12 km via Deerfoot, 12 km via Metis trail if it went to Country Hills, 20 km via Stoney.
Does anyone know how these routes add up to 3 km difference? It's clearly 7 - 12 as far as I can tell.

My face is a bum!
|
It's not a shortcut to the airport, it's a shortcut to get further south when they could backtrack and take Metis, or take the other loop to Deerfoot.
The more I look at maps the more I think that money could be spent in much better ways.

The distance between Airport Trail and Country Hills Blvd is 1.5km straight north.
If the tunnel is built, people will still have to drive to the tunnel, so ultimately, the only additional distance would be the 1.5km north from Airport Trail to Country Hills, then another 1.5km from Country Hills back to Airport Trail. All other distances are a wash because you'd have to drive them whether the tunnel is built or not.

I still cannot believe the support for Barb Higgins. If people who voted for her in this poll can explain to me their reason I would really appreciate it.
