Brandon deserved to be in the tournament only because the tournament format guarantees the host team a spot. They did not earn their way in via their play - Unless you think the other eight CHL teams that made it to their league's Conference Finals also deserved to be at the Memorial Cup.
As I said, I don't really have a problem with the tournament format. But Brandon went in through the back door, and there is no possible way you can sugar coat that fact.

If the CHL brass really thought the Wheat Kings didn't deserve to be there, they could have replaced them, like they did with the Hamilton Steelhawks in the late 80s.

It was actually the Dukes of Hamilton. They only won 11 games that year and declined the invite on their own.
Ironically, their replacement was the OHL finalist Kitchener Rangers who also made it to the Memorial Cup Final (and almost won, losing in OT).
One thing the OHL has done several times is hold a "Super Series". The top two teams in the league get a bye to the second round but instead of not playing for an entire round they face off against one another with the winner getting the chance to host the Memorial Cup. One particular year, the two teams who met in the Super Series met again in the OHL final. Oshawa won both times and the Memorial Cup only had three teams playing that year.
The drawback is less time to prepare for the tournament for the host.

It was 9-3 Windsor in the round robin game right?
I hope this game ends something like 6-5. Hall with 6 goals and Rajala with 5. That would be great!

Hall is going to take a beating in this game. Great start, both teams have shown up to play.

So are the Oilers going to take Hall at #1? I think they take Seguin.

Both players are solid. I think at this point they are around 55-45 going to take Hall. Personally I am about 65-35 wanting Hall. I wouldn't be upset if they took Seguin but I really like Hall and think he can make the bigger impact.

I think Hall is ready to play at the NHL now, Seguin might be another year. Though, I haven't seen as much of Seguin to really say.

I'm betting Edmonton takes Hall. I think they should take Seguin.
I missed the first 10 minutes of this game, but what I have seen hasn't lived up to the semi.

Windsor is just so composed defensively. The Hitmen had no answer to the Wheaties relentless attack on Friday but Windsor is just so calm back there. I don't know if Brandon can come back from 2-0 against this team.

Jesus, there's a sympathy penalty for the Wheat Kings.
...and Brandon gets back into the game as a result.
Terrible call by the refs.
