Gotta love the format for the big dance, every conference gets a rep. Tonight Wofford gets there first shot at the dance ever with a championship win over App St.

UCONN Women Win 71 In A Row
New Record for D-I Ball.

The bench players they have would most likely be starters on any other team they have serious depth all around.

Seriously though...a remarkable achievement for that group yet again. 71 straight games, none by less than 10 points, and over half of those wins by 30+ points. I dont watch much, if any, womens BBall but this record simply does not get the attention it should be. Imagine if this was a mens program displaying this kind of complete domination....it would be hard to find much of anything else as far as coverage goes.

Oh yeah as for Gonzaga....they have been over-rated all year IMO. They will make the dance, but likely to be a 6/7 seed at this point and wont make it past the first weekend.

I feel sorry for whatever team gets UNI in the second round. They won't even see it coming.

Would be cool to see Montana make it, our neighbours to the south. Have they ever made the dance?

With the tournament coming up...anyone got a favourite or most memorable tournament game of all time? I'd say that Gonzaga/Arizona double overtime a while ago during the Blake Stepp days has to be my favourite. One of the best games I've ever watched and well it still pains me to talk about it but UCLA/Gonzaga too.

Montana wins 66-65. Down by 40-20 at the half, I witnessed the most incredible performance by a single college basketball player I have ever seen. Absolutely incredible performance by Montana's Anthony Johnson!
If you watched this game you were lucky!!!
GO GRIZ!!!!

What a finnish to the Oregon/Washington State game. Oregon looked to have the game locked up, Washington State hits a bunch of 3's in a row and takes the lead. Washington up 2 with 5.5 seconds to go. 5 foot 6 Tijuan Porter drive hard to the hoop and put up a shot, it rims out, but EJ Singler is there for the tip in with 0.3 to go. Ducks take it by 2 in OT.
Wash St was awful from the line missing 13 free throws while Oregon missed zero.

I caught the last 8 minutes or so, incredible finish. If Johnson turns in a performance like that in the tournament they could take down anybody.

A bit off topic, but the Calgary High School Basketball finals take place this weekend at Crescent Heights. Div I finals start at 5pm with the girls final and the boys play at 7pm. Usually the games are very entertaining.

Today marks the beginning of wall to wall basketball every weekend for the next month, and as of right now on local TV we have the 5th different game of the day about to start.
This is hog heaven for theis part of the world with the ACC tourney getting underway but for many a stunning event this year as their beloved NC team are ranked dead last in the tourney.....awesome.
Miami thumped Wake in game 1...also have the Big 10 and Big East tournies being broadcast.

UNC is actually ranked 10th, Miami is ranked last, but it sure is nice to see UNC near the bottom of the standings and highly unlikely to make the tournament.

Another notable team most likely to miss the big dance is UCONN they got thumped by St.Johns in the opening round of the Big East tourney.
Speaking of the Big East the #1 seed in the Big East Syracuse was knocked out by Georgetown earlier this afternoon.

Colorado hires Tad Boyle, of Northern Colorado, as head coach. Great hire. Longtime Mark Turgeon assistant/best friend. They played together at KU. Dude did one hell of a job turning around UNC.
