Just throwing this out there, but what would everyone think of recreating the league so that we only play each team once. The reason I bring this up is that I think we will start to have some issues the further we get into this. 60 games is a lot of versus games, and while that may be okay when you're a team competing for the playoffs, the reality of things is that there are going to be teams who are out of it long before that. If this was an online dynasty things might be different as you could work on your game, get a high selection in the draft, etc. but with a season mode once you are out of playoff contention there really isn't much to play for. It's one thing if your remaining games are all against different people and you can just have some fun, but with 3 games per opponent a team that is out of the playoffs would be forced to replay teams that they know are going to absolutely kill them, and they really don't have much to play for. That's not much fun at all.

People who are out of it early are going to just disappear without playing all their games in this system, I can almost guarantee it. Then you have wasted a bunch of time playing games against teams that won't count.

Playing everyone once would be 20 games, which seems like a good amount. This would mean that even if you are out of the playoffs you can always play new opponents and practice for the next season (which won't be a really long wait as opposed to our current setup). Thoughts?

I would hope that people would play for stats or just to complete the league.

I'd be able to get behind something like that. I may eventually be able to complete 60 games, but I can see it taking a little while. Even at 10 games a week (which is a pretty decent number for the average person), it'll take 6 weeks to complete the league.

Either way works for me though - I just know that there will be a handful of players that are finished early, a handful that will never finish, and the rest of us somewhere in between.

Edit: I guess there's always the option of a spinoff league - something a little more casual. I'd probably stay in both, but like I said, I won't be finishing 60 games in a week or two.

I can see where koop and getting at and agree with him. Naturally these online leagues never make it through fully because the teams with losing records with no shot at playoffs lose their dedication to get their games in and only few of the players are left as activate participants of the league. With less games to play and quicker time to get to the playoffs and repeat a new season, it would encourage everyone to continue to particpate in the league and don't have to play such a large volume of games.

I'm down for a 1 game, VS league too. I'll play regardless.

Agreed with koop et al. The playoffs are where the real action begins in these leagues, but with each team having to play every other team 3 times, I don't think we'll ever get there.

Guys, it's been a week. Give people a chance. If we are going to make this a repeat thing, people that are out will want to get it done to, and it will allow them to practise and get better. Why not wait until it starts slowing down, and keep on people who aren't playing.

I have never set up a league, is there a way to remove people that aren't playing?

It has nothing to do with the amount of games that are being played right now, it's about what will happen the further we get into this. Some people are going to quit if they are out of the playoffs and still have 30 games to go, I can guarantee it.

Sure, you can kick people out if they aren't playing their games, but if you add new people to replace them we have to wait until they play all 60 games(you can't have someone take over, they have to start over) before we can advance to the playoffs. Basically I highly doubt we would ever get to a situation where 20 teams have played 60 games.

I would like to see this league make it to the playoffs, but I don't see that happening with 3 games per opponent.

I won't be able to play any games this week as I will be out of town and therefore be away from my PS3.

The reason I initially put it at 3 games a person so that the league isn't over within weeks. i wanted it to take a while, so people can consistently play the game and not get bored of it . I would not have so many games played atm if I was at work but due to the flu i have nothing else to do :P

From past experience, the reason i like lengthy leagues is that you can pick up and play the game over time and have a reason to keep playing the game.
