You can make the same arguement for doctors, public servants, politicians, I mean honestly, WTF is the deal with bashing on teachers, simply because they are an easy target?

Get your facts straight. Lump one group into this category you can lump them all into it.
But why not teachers? Jeez, if the thread was about politicians, I'd sure be bashing them too.

But come on, teaching is unique as it is distinctly an art. We need nurses, no matter how annoying they are, they are trained in a practical profession. Teachers have to invest alot of their personality into their teaching in order to be any good.

No real strain at all. The biggest hurdle is getting the kids motivated. Other than that it is really rewarding and I am very happy I came here and got to know everyone.
That's great to hear. Thanks for clarifying.

I have a cousin who used to teach on the Tsuu-Tina reserve and she had to quit because of the sadness and difficulty that was involved in teaching such a damaged and hurting community.
My sister used to teach at a residential school in Saskatchewan. You can imagine how stressful that was. She had to move to a different setting after 3 years.

Not that the job was not rewarding. The children loved her... and they did very well for her. But under those circumstances, she was like their mother figure...... and June was basically like abandoning 24 of your children every year. And as your cousin experienced, knowing what those children went back to in the summer was pretty hard to bear.

It sounded terrible. A class with 15-20 teenage girls in it and about a third of them are pregnant. Totally sad.

I don't think it is my business but if a guy claims that people are making claims because they are bitter that others are making more than them I would assume that they know how much you make.

I may have missed the posts where you told everyone that info but based on your response to that question I would doubt that you did.

Although I acknowledged this in my last post, have you noticed he has left that post right alone (and even thanked it!)?

Starting wage of 54k without a Masters degree and 0 years of experience. That's pretty great. Even if you do work 60 hours a week.
Agreed.

By the way, I think I have yet to see one supporter of the current public education system say that they "don't do it for the money!"
Um, did you read my posts?
