Ugh. That's all I can say about the Eagles. Reid's failure to make adjustments at halftime and the management's refusal to supply Donovan with a true #1 receiver is the reason for Philly's lack of success this year.

True. That left tackle got molested all night by Umenyiora and Reid never put a back or a tight-end over there to help protect McNabb.
When Westbrook is out of the line up, the Eagles get exposed as a really bad football team. They dont have the ability to establish a true run game and they dont have a receiver to really stretch out a defense. But with Westbrook, they have a dynamic RB/Receiver to come out of the backfield and catch those little check-down and swing passes. I dont know if Westbrook would have won them the game, but the sack count wouldnt have been at 12 and there might have been some life in the Eagles offense.

God the Colts defense looked like last years in the first half, thank god they played half decent the rest of the game. Really hope Marvin will be ok, although I've heard that it's nothing serious. Brandon Marshall is going to be a hell of a pro, too bad Denever has absolutley no run defense.

Yeah, to be honest I don't know why Westbrook isn't one of the guys ever mentioned to go 2nd in fantasy drafts as a RB. I suppose he maybe doesn't get quite the number of TD's but he's one of the top backs in the league for sure. Last year the McNabb injury forced the Eagles to really feature Westbrook more and it helped them. Mind you tonight the Eagles were pretty banged up with a pro bowl safety and CB out, a pro bowl back, and a starting LT. Take those pieces away from any NFL team put them on the road in a division rivals house and they're going to struggle.
So far I think the Pats and Colts are miles ahead of anyone. But the next grouping of teams probably has Dallas, Green Bay, Seattle in the mix. Even Tampa Bay has been pretty impressive so far although Caddilac Williams injury could hurt. I have to say that after the Pats and Colts that the NFC is right there or better than the rest of the AFC.

I'd just like to introduce everyone to the new Detroit Lions of the NFL.
The one and only Miami Dolphins!!!!!
It's a sad time to be a dolphin fan and it's most likely not going to get any better any time soon.

I'm not sure that statement does Denver's run defense justice.
I got to watch the first half. As soon as the Broncos kicked the second field goal I knew it was over.

Only watched the first half to Dis, and was really suprised the Broncos didn't go for it on 4th down, just before there 2nd field goal. Shannahan knows better then anyone how good that Colts offense is at home, the Broncos had been running at will against the Colts and it was a very managable 1 yard to go.
Was happy to see Stokley starting for the Broncos, as bad as the defense looks the offense has got a ton of potential going forward if everyones healthy, having Walker and Marshall on either side with Stokley (arguablly the best slot receiver in the league when healthy) to go along with a very solid running game.
Not sure what Dre Bly's smoking here
"You can't give (Manning) all the credit," Bly said. "He doesn't call the plays. He doesn't make the adjustments. He's not the offensive coordinator."

Colts Injury list looked brutal after the game with Addai Sanders Harrison Morris all leaving the game, Sanders and Harrison both could've played if needed and Addai just got the wind knocked out of him. Phew

Injuries could play a part in that. He is valuable though, especially in leagues that reward catches. I had him the last two years. Drafted in the second or even third rounds. He went in the first round this year in my league.
What about all the upsets yesterday? Anybody win big on Sports Select? I picked Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Arizona for $20. Paid a cool $604.

Good picks...I couldn't believe the odds they were giving on Tampa to beat Carolina this week especially since it looked like Delhomme would be out from the start of the week.
I had a ticket for Green Bay to beat Minny, Tampa over Carolina, but I combined it with Calgary and BC to be under the 55.5 Over under.....but the loser on that ticket for me was the Chiefs and Chargers going over 39.5. I was thinking the most scoring we'll see in that game is like 24-13 Chargers....Oh well thats life.

I wanted to add Green Bay. But I reminded myself that greed usually ends up with a ticket with a huge pay day, but allmost impossible odds. Also traditionally, Favre has not faired well in Dome's for some reason.

Yeah, I was shocked at that too. It was a great call on 3rd down that little counter draw and Henry almost got it there. On the road against the best team in the NFL you gotta get in the end zone. Shanahan did that in the Raider game too. Took a short field goal instead of going for it on 4th and goal from the 1. Then the next week against Jacksonville he made the right call and went for it....they didn't get it! I applaud the call though whether they make it or not...to me it's the right call to go for it.
Glad you can see what I do in that offense. I think having Walker might have let the Broncos get down the field a bit more yesterday. Don't think they would've won or anything, but it might have been closer.
Bailey was everywhere again. I've never seen a corner stop more running plays up the middle than he does. Of course, that's the sign of a huge defensive problem....but there is no denying his greatness. He's unbelievable.
As for Bly, I didn't hear that quote, but I'm guessing he's been saying a lot of inceredulous "He does?" today! Peyton's the best in the league...all due respect to Brady.

That Portis for Bailey trade seems really lopsided now huh? Bailey is definitely one of the greats at the position. A shutdown corner that will jump in to stop the run. A rare find.

I would say the defense has been spectacular this year, considering they've been without Dawkins and Sheppard for nearly 4 games. I've been really disappointed in Reggie Brown this year. He was great and last year and I truly thought he was going to break out this year. Kevin Curtis has had some really bad drops for supposedly having some of the best hands in the league.

William Thomas (the starting LT) is also a 3 time pro-bowler and the anchor to that offensive line. The Eagles were also missing pro bowl TE L.J. Smith, who has been McNabb's safety net in the past.
McNabb's lack of mobility this year has really emphasized how brutal the WRs really are. In the past McNabb could buy time with his feet until the WRs got open. Say what you want about Tom Brady's WRs but at least he's had guys like Deion Branch and Troy Brown.

I could REALLY use another Moss TD here. Heck, I think I might need 2.
And I need Palmer to not do anything the rest of the game.
Ugh...think I'm going to 0-4 in my money league...which I won last year. I suck. No...autodrafts suck!

So does the Detroit Lions recent success this season mean that the curse of Bobby Lane is over?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Lions
Quote:
In 1958, after he had led the Lions to three NFL Championships and provided Detroit nearly a decade of Hall of Fame play, the Lions traded Bobby Layne. Bobby was injured during the last championship season, and the Lions thought he was through and wanted to get what they could for him. According to legend, as he was leaving for Pittsburgh, Bobby said that Detroit "would not win for 50 years." Since this time, the Lions have not won another championship and have only a single playoff game win. Some have attributed the Lions' subsequent 49 years of futility to the "Curse of Bobby Layne."

I was in the opposite position during that game. Because I was a hung over ###### on Sunday, I didnt check my rosters to see that Westbrook was out and left him starting, keeping LJ on the bench. This cost me 14 points, and was the difference between me beating the only undefeated guy left in our league who's got the sick Brady/Moss combo, and losing. I needed Brady/Moss to score less than 29 points that game(yeah right). They ended up putting up 43, ugh. I was holding out (false)hope until that late Moss TD, those two are just too ridiculous.
btw I agree about your autodraft bit. Drives me nuts when someone doesnt bother to show up on draft day, and the computer ends up handing him the best roster. No strategy(or bragging rights) at all.

Well my story is that the comissioner in my league at work, the only money league I'm in and the one I won last year, decided that to generate more activity among us he would set the league to autodraft this year.
Mine was brutal. I got Randy Moss...yippee! I had no QB's. Had Travis Henry and Steven Jackson...I wanted to trade one for a QB and in order to not seem like a complete homer I traded Henry for Bulger instead of Jackson for Palmer. UGH!!!
The two Rams have me borderline suicidal at this point...0-4 and not looking very hopeful. I need Cutler (who I had to trade for as well) to turn it up. His 14 points a week hasn't been enough!

If anyone saw that hit on Trent Green that knocked him out of last season, he was hit worse today. We may have seen the last of him in a uniform.
In other news, I can't really remember a team that has looked any better than NE in the last decade.
