Makes the nichushkin rumor make more sense.

He should’ve been the Captain here IMO. Best of luck MW (if he accepts)

JFresh says Deveroux is included...not sure if guessing or knows.

I see Weegar as the kind of guy that doesn't want to disappoint everyone. He is trying to convince himself that it is a great idea to go to Utah right now. And he would be right! Utah is awesome!

Fun, useless fact - Salt Lake City is further east than Calgary.

Man, I love Weegar. What a bummer to likely see him go. Hope it's a good deal.

Flames are about to get even worse so you would think he would waive... its a decent place to live, safe and clean and the team is on the up. Vs probably 2 or 3 years of getting your teeth absolutely kicked in with the flames ahead.

Crazy how much player power there is around trades these days though.

Looking forward to hearing what is coming back. Iginla seems off the table but they have many other interesting prospects and given the rumored parayko return you would expect a very good prospect and a pick.

Hayton would be a good pickup imo, he has never hit his potential for sure.

I get that its been a tough year for weegar, but a few months ago he was widely seen as an Olympic caliber d-man that could concievably make the cut for canada.

The "equivalent of a first" would be on the low end for a player with those accolades.

Flames get Francis to ask Weegar about waiving his no-trade and write an article about.

Then the Flames leak the trade to Friedman

They passively agressively forced Weegar to waive

I would have agreed prior to the Parayko news breaking, but with them both having similar age, contract, and term and both having down years compared to their usual, I would be disappointed if we got less than what Parayko got from Buffalo.

Utah needs a guy like Weeger in the dressing room, and he can also keep them from being pushed around so much.

I hope he is willing to come back and still help build the new arena during the summer.

I am genuinely stunned. Maybe the only player of the vets I'd have really been ok with them hanging on to just because he seems like a rock in that room and such a great leader.

Moving Weegar feels like a bomb to that dressing room.

Maybe I'm just tempering expectations and how an acquiring team may be concerned that Weegar's decline in play isn't just team related but age related.
