Do Mackinnon or McDavid next. We could use some of that juice.

Finland needs to step it up if they want their lead to survive the period. Looks like they know it too.

You actually can though. The trap is a structure. It assumes that everyone is in position and nobody gets beat. If you go right though a guy because you're Nathan MacKinnon and you're just that good at hockey, the structure crumbles and guys get out of their spots trying to compensate for the guy who got beat. That creates a fire drill even if the original individual rush didn't get home. We just saw Marner score 1 on 3 literally last game.

Individual efforts actually ARE a path to beating the trap, if the effort is by a transcendently talented player, like some of the guys on this squat. It's like saying "that's a bad shot to take, unless you're Steph Curry".

If they didn't name McDavid captain we'd hear about it for 50 years like 1998 Gretzky Shootout

Big moment here.
If he made more saves, then there wouldn't be the need for any late game heroics. Same story today. In elimination games, big saves in the 1st are just as important as big saves late, despite what the media tries to spin.

Lots of blame to go around but this is the 2nd straight game the goalie on the other end has vastly outplayed him. Very hard to win a gold medal like that.

Great rush by McDavid until the spin-o-rama backhand pass. Like... just put it five hole.

What a terrible pass by McDavid. Looks flashy but accomplishes SFA

MacKinnon needs to win those post-icing faceoffs.

I guess what I’m seeing is a breakdown happens when all of a sudden a high speed incredible unexpected individual effort happens, but when everyone is trying that every time, it’s not a 3 v 3 ot like Marner, its turning into a 5 v 1.5 but against the best players who are playing a trap.

Canada (McDavid there) still being too cute. Little spinaround no-look pass, which didn't connect. Put it on net. Cute isn't going to beat the finns.

I think the shots this period are like 12-1, Finland just totally on the ropes.

I had very good luck last game.

I think I'd like to see Stone do something soon.

That's mcdavid in a nutshell

Most important moments on the world stage and he treats it like a standard oilers "im the star of the show" Tuesday night game.
