Even D-men is a head scratcher. Doughty is heavily on the decline, Harley is having a poor season to his standards. Schaffer should of made the team.

The bigger thing to me is he was really huge in the 4 Nations.

I don't think they win those games against the US without him.

Canada’s defence is not strong. Outside of Schaefer there is nobody that is so good that it is a puzzling decision to leave them off. Up front they had probably 20-25 forwards they could have taken. On the backend they are much weaker.

Bennett has proven over and over again that he’s a big game player. Cirelli and Horvat over him doesn’t make sense to me. Unless Bedard’s injury keeps him out he needs to be there 100%. Shiefele should’ve made it too. I also think Schaefer is better than half of that D.

Bennett has played alot of hockey recently. 3 cup runs and 4 Nations. Also top line C in Florida with Barkov out. Perhaps doing him a favour.

Got to wonder if Parayko makes the team if Doug Armstrong wasn't GM.

MVP of the 5 nations imo.
This has that “smartest guys in the room” selection committee stink on it from the WJ’s last year.

Very concerned this team isn’t good enough, hope I’m wrong.
Hard to pick for sure, but definitely a handful of head scratchers.

All 3 Tampa guys are questionable for me. Point only has 6 goals this season. Guess they decided we needed them to kill penalties. Leaving Bédard off is ridiculous to me.

I wonder the same about Cirelli. He doesn't make it if Brisebois isn't on the management team.

Point was original 6 locked in. He had to go, but correct he is having the worse season of his career.

Weegar was invited to the summer camp.

Kadri wasn't. At training camp Kadri said Hockey Canada told him he was on the long list. He was always a long shot.

Panel is also confused how you don’t bring Bennett.
O’Dawg says it’s a huge mistake, he was a lock no question in his mind.

Brain dead decision leaving Bennett off. Is there a more consistently impactful "big game" player in the sport over the past couple of years?

There will likely be an injury or two leading to the Olympics and Bennett better be the replacement player named

Stone and Doughty stick out to me for the wrong reasons. It's not their time any longer.

I don’t get the Stone pick at all. Doughty still kinda works

Stone didn’t look that good at four nations

I don't think that award has much weight in this kind of decision. I wouldn't be adding Marchessault if this was the year after he won. The 4 Nations is more significant.

I'm not surprised about Scheifele - Hockey Canada doesn't seem to rate him very highly.

The Bedard injury gave the selection committee the opportunity not to take him without huge backlash, but I don't think they wanted to take him either.

With the smaller ice surface and with how team USA is going to be constructed I'm not surprised at all that Tom Wilson is there.

I just don't get Cirelli or Horvat over Bennett.

If we look at the last two seasons as a whole including playoffs, then Bennett has been more impactful than those guys.

I don't mind the Wilson pick. He's having a great year and is a pretty unique combination of skill and physicality. There's really no one quite like him.

But then it's also obvious to me that pairing him with Sam would have been tremendous.

I would have dropped Stone and brought Sam.
