The Sabres want to get better now - they won’t deal Cozens for mainly futures. They’ll want a top-six forward or top-four d. Pospisil won’t cut it.

I subscribe to the Sabres feed on the Athletic, and the word in Buffalo is that Byram is one of the few Sabres who consistently brings intensity and positive energy. They seem to think he’s part of the solution, not the problem. IMHO, they’re more likely to move Power.

Byram is a good young player, I'd be more concerned with his concussion history more than anything else. One or two more and he's probably done. Probably one.

If flames brass is that high on Cozens, and they have engaged buffalo on cost, you would have to think they are ok moving zary,I can't see buffalo being that interested in Andersson, they already have two studs in powers and dahlin.

Royle, who is as good a source as we're likely to see until there is an actual trade, specifically said they are not OK moving Zary.

I have to say it doesn't make any sense to move Zary, who is looking like a promising 2C on a cheap contract, for a much more expensive 2C. It doesn't fill any roster holes.

Swapping Zary I can see making sense of they think that they are trading a future #2C or a winger for a # 1C. Would be a gamble.

Seth Jarvis got cut from the same World Junior team Cozens dominated on. I wonder if they would pull a one-for-one for Cozens or if the Hurricanes would have to add.
Or maybe the Flyers could offer Jakob Pelletier for Jarvis and see if the Hurricanes bite given Pelletier was point-per-game at the tournament.

Good chatter is all. I don’t believe any of the young flames star players will be moved. There’s a sense of loyalty which is the call of the flames

At this point, I consider Cozens’ draft pedigree to be a negative. His development has stalled in the past 3 years, and he looks like he’s already peaked. I’d much rather have a player like Zary who has shown regular progression and now has a similar total production. He is the player more likely to have further progression, and I predict that Zary will be noticeably better than Cozens as early as next season. He’s already driving play and always making the right decision. I would not trade Zary for Cozens 1 for 1. If Zary and Coronato are the ask, I don’t think there’s a deal to be made, unless it’s for Dahlin.

Personally if Zary or Coronato are the ask then you just don't make the trade if you're the Flames IMO.
Cozens is a $7M forward who scored 18 goals and 47 goals last year and is on pace for 15 goals and 40 points this year. That's his value.
In the end Buffalo will have to either realize their ask is too high, or hope that Cozens turns it around for the Sabres.
Buffalo is in a weird spot with Cozens. Playoff teams that might be willing to move a younger piece to get better now might not see Cozens as an upgrade, and won't want to pay him $7M.
Teams like Montreal or Calgary would be interested in him, but wouldn't want to move their "A Tier" young players but more the second tier.
Like Montreal has the best assets but they aren't moving Slafkovsky, Hutson, Guhle, Reinbacher, etc in a deal like this.
They might be willing to move Newhook, Dach, Strubble, Mailloux or that level of young player, but Buffalo might not want that.
The only guy potentially available that fits what Buffalo is looking for and who might be on the trade market is Zegras IMO, but I doubt Verbeek would want Cozens (contract + soft for his size) so the you need to figure out a 3 team deal.
Or a much bigger package for Pettersson I guess, but that's probably Cozens + Power/Byram as the ask.
Andersson would make sense too, Buffalo could use a veteran RH dman, but if he wouldn't waive or be willing to extend then I doubt Buffalo does that.

They need right handed d-men. All of their studs, including Byram are left handed. I could definitely see them being interested in a Byram for Andersson swap of some sort.

Outside of the draft position / ceiling speculation / age, I'm not really sure that he brings anything that Morgan Frost doesn't. Why pay a high price for a younger version of something you already have. Now I havn't been watching the Kraken too closely, so maybe you've seen something that I haven't. But I genuinely don't see a player who's ready to pop.

Shane Wright had 2 points in his first 18 games. Since then, he has 27 points in 34 games, including currently being on a 6-game point streak, and he literally just turned 21 a month ago. He's almost 5 years younger than Frost. What don't you see about that, that indicates he could pop?

Far to many people on here with 'shiny new toy' syndrome, happy to trade away any player (Zary) just to have someone new on the team to get excited about.
I see the excitement from the recent two player trade has worn off already, would it be the same once we got Cozens? Always looking for the next trade.

You are undervaluing Seth Jarvis, he’s a piece you don’t move. Zero chance Pelletier gets you Jarvis. Unless the Flyers add Sanheim or something.
