Soft goals can be especially deflating when the team in front is playing well and the opponent is gifted a goal. Markstrom is weird in that this season he's amongst the best goaltenders when it comes to stopping high danger chances but he's below league average stopping mid and long range chances.

Anecdotally, as a beer league player, I am always overcompensating when my goalie is having an off night and letting in stinkers. I'm a center so I'm already pretty focused on playing a good defensive game too, but if the goalie is struggling I am definitely not taking as many risks on the offensive end of the puck. I can only imagine it's amplified by many times for NHLers.

Good for Conroy et al if they actually capitalized on markstroms bump in play to start the year.
Very ballsy move by the freshly minted gm!
Moving forward with 26 and 22 year old goalies and carrying less cap is the way.

Why does every one claim to have a source in the last six months or so?
You guys have never piped up about source until recently. And your claims often conflict or just repeat what every one already knew which is hardly worthy of being touted an inside scoop.

Not having Markstrom's cap hit alone makes the franchise so much healthier. I hope that is true, and frankly no reason to doubt it is. The poster hasn't claimed sources previously and what would motivate them to start randomly now?
Plenty of reason to doubt the other "source" though, lol.
