So, who is that? They posted immediately after saying they were their own source… who is this?

Edit: alright, so end of that. Just a joke tweet.

A lot of people here were okay with $8.5M. A difference of $750K isn't going to make this team worse but not having Lindholm certainly would make them worse. So, I get the compromise.

I don't understand the rush to sign him...the team missed the playoffs...why not wait...look how Huberdeau turned out

I will go on record as saying this team won't make the playoffs next year even with a healthy Lindholm

Agreed. I sure hope Conroy and Iginla convince the owners that this team ain't winning squat and Lindholm and Hanifin get traded for futures.

Flames' cupboards are bare and they have no stars. If they sign Lindholm, they're just going to be mediocre again, probably miss the playoffs and draft 16-19.

Sorry season ticket holders, but it's time to move on from this core of complimentary players. We will not win the championship with this middle of the pack roster.

Me too. Boy, I will be deflated if Lindholm signs for almost as much as Johnny Gaudreau signed for last year.

This seems pretty straightforward. Hey Lindy, it’s 8.5 over 8 yrs you have until Friday to decide. If not, we will be trading you.

The end.

Hopefully a typo and he meant 8.25.

That is rich for 8 years.

9.25 x 6 would make sense to me.

I truly believe Zebulon was a product of Tkachuk and Gaudreau. Without those 2 he is a 1st line center on a team missing the playoffs.

For lindholm I would either invest money or term but not both. He isn't an 8x8 player and this year was lindholm carrying his line. It was a disappointment and that falls squarely on him as a 1C. After his last season, I'd be hard pressed to offer him his current contract, knowing he has 0 support on this team currently

100%

You can't let the Gaudreau/Tkachuk situation turn you into pushovers. Still have to manage a cap here (and if Lindy wants them to compete then he needs to do his part to allow them flexibility to build around him).

####ing over your cap structure more than it already is for 8 years isn't worth keeping one guy. There needs to be compromise on both sides.

If Horvat is the comparable then you definitely say 8.5x8 take it or leave it.

#### this "Calgary tax". We're turning a new leaf, aren't we?

If he wants to stay this contract is not that complicated.

8×8 is $64M. No one on the open market is giving him 7x9 and if they do...good luck.

8x7 is $56M. Probably a team like Columbus would put that kind of money on the table...but see Johnny, Kadri etc. for the kind of deals that actually get signed on July 1 for non "brand name" stars.

Pick a number in between. If he wants more than 9 trade him and if he takes less than 7 - great. No chance at his age he even entertains anything less than an 8 year deal from the Flames. Otherwise he will chase the 7x7-8 on the open market.

If I were him I would want more than Horvat. There will always be a “Calgary tax” . That’s not going away.

So that means that you believe he is not as good or better then

Suzuki, Zibanejad, Larkin, Backstrom, Miller, Barzal, Couturier, Thomas, Horvat,
Seguin, Cirelli, Kuznetsov, Schenn, Couture and Johansen.

Cause they all make 8 or more right now.

He can't sign by Friday. Or next Friday.

Come July 1st, the draft is already over. So why take such a confrontational approach? What difference does it make if it takes a couple more weeks?

Ultimatums can be effective, as a negotiating style. But they are also volatile and dangerous - they fail more often than they succeed.

Good thing Lindholm is the anti-mediocre guy then.

He is actually really really way better than mediocre in fact.
