That's pretty much what every internet message board has become. The internet is mostly a cesspool where people go to spew endless negativity about pretty much any topic you can think of.

Every other sports team message board I frequent is the same. The team loses and the GT and PGT are absolutely full to the brim with dejected fans losing their ####. The team wins and it's mostly crickets.

I noticed something similar in a group chat for a fantasy hockey league I’m in. The whole first round the only thing that was discussed were bad reffing calls. It was driving me insane. Not a single play or highlight was mentioned or shared. I finally said something because it was so annoying.

Unless it's best-on-best, Canadians don't care. And since we don't have a regularly scheduled quadrennial best-on-best hockey tournament, people don't really give a #### about international hockey.

And I'm guilty as charged. I'd trade 100 gold medals for Canada for 1 Cup for the Flames.

I'll watch the international hockey when Canada is involves and it's on TV when the time in convenient to me. I used to get up early and stay up late to catch the game, not anymore.

Coronato opens the scoring for USA with a good play. He collected a puck that bounced off a Czech defender, took a step to make room and spin to fire the puck at the net. Got a bit of luck as it bounced in off a skate, but he made a good play to make it happen. He also made a few good plays in the offensive zone prior to that sequence. Very promising.

This is how mass public engagement goes for literally any topic. It's the reason participatory democracy to the point of direct democracy is stupid and largely useless.
Seriously. Try proposing a development in a community that will benefit 98% of residents, hold an open house. You will get 10 attendees, and 9 of them will be there to tell you that you're an ####### for even trying to do what you want to do.

People are only motivated to discuss something when it goes contrary to their world view. In the case of a sports team, when they win, that's what you expect so there's less motivation for one to post about it. When they lose, you are surprised (maybe) and thus you are motivated to discuss it.

Coronato is having quite a good tournament, I have not watched the games but he has 2g,4a in 8 games and had 2 goals called back at no fault of his own. He is known as a guy who elevates his game in most important games and it was on display in the quarter finals - getting the MVP, 6 shots on net and a game winner.

It’s too bad Huberdeau did not go over, as I have heard from some that even Team Canada had hoped he would. I think it could have sparked some confidence in his game. It was also mentioned that the Flames were hoping he went as well, and some in the office were a little disappointed he didn’t. Note, this does not mean they don’t have faith he will have a better season next year. As it is clear, they have that confidence.

Canada just beat Finland, as expected. Pretty easy win, Finland had effort but couldn't find the net to save their lives.

Home tournament ends up being a total flop for Finland, with losses to every major country they faced (US, Sweden and now Canada) and only the meaningless Denmark-game being a convincing win.

Latvia also upsets Sweden.

Next up CAN-LAT and USA-GER, and then presumably CAN and USA for the gold.

Thread should be blowing up for Coronato.

He's having a good tourney on the world stage yet again, this time in one with a lot of NHLers.

He's going to be a player for the Flames. Looked threatening in his first NHL game and appears to have carried over that play.

Let's learn from the past and give this guy plenty of opportunity to grow at the NHL level before making him sit for extended periods and not let him get away because of stingy negotiating/hardball.

Excited to see a young natural goal scorer climb through the ranks.

Hopefully pieces like Coronato and Kylington internally help bridge the slim gap between the Flames and playoffs this season.

Latvia has a 2-1 lead on Canada at the end of 2nd in the semifinal. Weegar really weak on the 2-1 goal.

Latvia has never finished higher than 7th in the world championships before this. Latvian fans have flocked to Tampere by the thousands, and the atmosphere at the game is absolutely electric. Obviously everyone else except the Canadians are cheering for the underdogs here.
