Maybe the most unpopular opinion ever on this message board but I don’t hate Nazem Kadri, and I don’t forget that he was our best player to start the season which was basically our best stretch of the season. I don’t forget that in our only win against the Oilers he outshined McDrai. He had a ####ty second half, it happens. I think he handled himself well in his presser and I believe he can bounce back and be a good player for us. I don’t think he ever had much of a chance here with a lot of fans, so many people here hated him before he ever stepped on the ice for us, most of those people were quiet when he was playing well and were happy to jump all over him when he wasn’t.
Anyways moving on to Huberdeau, although I don’t think he ever looked as good as he could have, I thought the game against Nashville was his best game of the season, he played great and showed a lot of heart and I’m confident he’ll bounce back. Can we win a cup with him being our 10.5M dollar player? I dunno, that’s a tough one to answer but I think he’s going to be a lot better next season.

Fair point, but I also think the alternative doesn't need to be to that extreme... many other answers he could have given than to agree that they can come back and be contenders.

It happens, but not normally to this extent/bluntness.
I think its part PTSD, part bad season, part media trying to drum up Sutter vs Players drama.

Such as? Without throwing anyone under the bus, he has to be positive.
He's not far wrong though. Better goaltending (very possible) and rebound seasons from a couple guys (also possible) along with kids playing a bigger role and sure, they could be up there.

That, plus the fact so many of the top players on our roster are UFA after this coming season. Decisions need to be made in the next couple months if you want to maximize value or resign them, which also means defining your team for the next half decade.
