Honestly, when I watch games, I usually don’t second guess who he’s got out there. He tends to play guys who are going that night which I think is the right way to go about it. If the other guys want more ice time, start playing better.
Sutter is really simple when it comes down to it. He just asks you to play with pace, check hard and not cheat the defensive side of the game. Do that and you’ll get your minutes.

The issue I had with sutter was he called out mackey’s giveaway goal, yet no mention of lindholms equally dumbass play that led to the first goal.

This true. It sucks that they are typically playing comeback hockey early in the game. Even games were we gave up early goals and the Flames fail to pot more than a goal or two, those early goal affect the outcome. The team usually ends up having to take more risks and play aggressively which leads to penalties.

He has always done that though, even when winning cups.
It seems unfair but Sutter knows how to push buttons on different guys at different times.
It always looks like double standards but this is his way of doing things and nothing new.
Like it or not, it's not the reason this team is terrible.

Again watch the benches last night watch it throughout the season. One coach is constantly yapping and barking at the players. You can do that once in a while but it gets tiring daily.
It's unfortunate they gave him the extension. We could have parted ways in a classy fashion at seasons end if things didn't work out.
Craig Berbue seems like a hard ass but he doesn't act that way.
Sutter is as much to blame as guys not producing. Rewarding a bum like Lucic doesn't send a good message to the bench when you have been yelling at them all game.

Who was the forward he called out on the 3-1 goal for not back checking? I wasn’t paying attention to the goal and he didn’t mention him by name.
We hear less than 1% of what he says to his players so IMO pretty hard to take a hard stand on his communication style.
Who really cares what he says to the media.

It's actually kind of childish.

I would like to see them load up the top line:
Huberdeau-Kadri-Lindholm
Dube-Backlund-Mangiapane
Coleman-Ruzicka-Toffoli
Lucic-Zohorna-Lewis

Putting their 3 best forwards on one line worked out quite well last season.
I would like to see them do it again.

Fair enough. I've just been heavily annoyed by lindholms season, that play was so bad, I was hoping to hear the coach call it out a bit.

Maybe the Canucks are a better team? I think they will sell Horvat high, probably for a couple prospects and an established player. That may allow the Flames to be better this season.

All quantity, no quality.
Try to be positive, but it's getting REALLY hard.

Sutter has already lost the team
Markstrom is not our starter this year. Stop playing him like one.

It was Huberdeau I'm pretty sure. I watched the replay on that goal and Sutter yelled "OFF" really loud at his direction while Huby was skating pretty lazy back.

We don't know that. It's probably not the only reason but it could be a reason.
We've all heard the stories from Rhett about how Darryl lost the room due to his negativity during his first stint. It wouldn't shock me to learn it has happened again.

Thanks.
The coach shouldn’t be so tough and asking him to backcheck though. Back checking is for dinosaurs.

Wasn’t that goal still a 2 on 4 when it was scored?

Don't need to backcheck if you put the puck in the other net

The team lacks chemistry as a whole, which is to be expected when your top two players that drive play end up leaving, it's going to take some time to regain flow.
Give it another 10-15 games.

need wins to do that
they're few and far between these days and we're in the middle third of the season

Are you actually suggesting Berube doesn't yell at his players? Because I can assure you he does...often
Christ he called one out in the media last week
