Interesting that you say that as we keep hearing Markstrom needs time to find his game.

I'd like to know how many goals have been scored against the flames this year while the announcer is still calling out a flames goal after flames score. If I was Sutter I'd call a time out after every goal-for possible.

Just caught the highlights...
What a turn of momentum, just seconds after the flames made it a one goal game. I realize that the flames high danger chances were minimal, but our starting goaltending is a major problem.
I don't see how they don't give vladar a few games in a row here, letting markstrom figure things out on the bench.
One of the biggest questions coming out of the end of the flames playoff run was how broken markstrom looked. Crazy offseason, and this topic got lost with all the other excitement/questions. At this stage I think it's fair to ask if the oilers playoff series may have broke Jacob markstrom???

If I'm Tre I'm finding the best sports shrink I can find to work with Jacob. He has the talent. I think it's whats going on between his ears.

Flames only have 3 more losses than 1st place Golden Knights with 66 games left to play.
Glass half full?
I found that game to be the worst game of the year. All perimeter. I figured it would take about 20 games before the team would hit its stride due to the amount of turnover. That game felt like a step backwards.

goaltending aside Flames sure have a habit , beyond this season , of letting their guard down at key moments like after scoring an important goal , and quickly undoing all the good work they did to that point
they can also work on that and making sure they follow up goals with continued pressure and not letting the other team punch back
but ya JM hasn't been good enough for 80 percent of his starts

You'd be surprised how our body reacts or doesn't react to our mental health etc

Because Markstrom is the starter. They have different roles. Vladar hasn’t really given Sutter an excuse to play him more either. He was fine against Boston but he needs more of that. He may play tomorrow and he’ll most certainly play atleast once next week.
Both need to step up.

whenever I go to the game I always mentally urge Beesley to hurry up with the goal announcement so that it's not interrupted by a goal against. I know it probably hasn't happened as often as it feels, but at least the dangerous chance against within 30 seconds of scoring seems to happen semi-regularly.

this is true . I don't know if having good mental health boosts performance necessarily but I know poor mental health does hinder it
I saw a therapist for a while that worked with pro hockey players . he helped me quite a bit in the time when we had regular appointments

Sure, they can both be better in net. But I think you'd have a hard time pinning more than a couple of the losses this season on the performances between the pipes.
It's shockingly obvious the Flames aren't getting into HD areas enough and are allowing other teams ample opportunity to do so against them. It doesn't matter how hard you play, or how well the goaltenders perform, until you get that in check, it is going to be tough sledding.

Yeah, I wouldn't pin many of the losses solely on the goalies either. They've needed to be better but there's been other issues with the team that has contributed.

Still if they had .920 goaltending like last season they would have a stellar record
Goalies are allowed to bail teams out

You got to think Huberdeau will turn it around. But I think everyone except for the most ignorant fans knew Tkachuk would continue to be a great player for many many years. It is not really a surprise that he is on a 100 point pace again, he likely has a couple 100 point seasons left in him.

I have a $100 bet that he won't get 100 this year and I am still pretty confident in it
People keep ignoring the Panthers ridiculously easy schedule...Flames point totals will go up next month too when they are playing a lot of average and bad teams IMO. That is basically the Panthers season so far.

This isn't college football. Most NHL teams can win on any night and even the worst team in the league has points in almost half their games. Maybe Flames have had easier opponents but they have also played the fewest road games in the league. Florida is an even split.
Let's see how they do head to head tomorrow.
