Interesting I thought this was easily the top line’s best game. If Toffoli scores on any of his 3-4 grade A 5v5 chances all of the sudden the narrative shifts to “top line starts clicking”.
I could be missing something but I believe the Kadri/Lindholm switch was the result of screwed up lines from the PK.
Edit: what they ^ said

Weegar was very noticeable in this game, in a good way.

I like watching the Calgary Flames win like this. I like the way Huberdeau plays. I haven’t felt this confident about a Flames team since who knows when. I’m going to ride this good feeling for as long as it lasts.

Just really in love with Matthew Tkachuk. It's a good thing that he didn't realize Tkachuk was the third best player on that top line last season.

I'm sure if you give the video replay guys enough time they can find something wrong on most goals. Give them 20 seconds after the puck goes in to challenge something egregious. If it comes down to nitpicking like this it loses the spirit of the challenges. It was totally bogus.

Weegar is a superstar, and our defense is the best it's been in a while but I'm really getting excited about Zadorov. He just looks that much better than last year. He is so big and a good skater if he put it together, he could be a star too.

He's got the tools.
If he can start playing the game faster, we'll see another level from him. He just needs to process reads and take action on them slightly quicker. There were a few times last night where I saw him set up for the right play, but not execute it quickly enough, and the other team would get a stick on it, or be in the lane, etc. Half a second faster and he's got it.

I also feel he has started to use his stick much better and going for the big hit less. If he learns to play his position and only go for the big hit when it's there, he will be a beast in transition defensively.
He also has been fine on the PK with Tanev which was a huge question mark for me as that was the one area Gudbranson was really going to be missed. So far, Zadorov has been as good

I still can't believe this team looks like it's going to better than it was last season, after losing their top two scorers.
And the only UFA's after this season....Lucic, Lewis, Ritchie and Stone.
No key RFA's to sign either, except for maybe the backup goalie. But they can probably flip him for some assets if he has strong year andgets too expensive, then replace him with last years AHL goalie of the year.
Like WTF Treliving? Amazing.

Yeah, it doesn't feel like a roster that requires hot streaks from certain players to get wins, that will eventually go on losing streaks when offence dries up.
It feels like one that will just come at you in waves every game and win quite more than they lose. They will stay close in games if pucks aren't going in for them because our defence is so good.

Lol I just want to point out that I was adamant Sutter would try out zadorov-tanev and no one believed me. The man loves the big boys together.

Not that it matters. The lines at practice today are the ones that started the game.

Tanev isn't a big boy compared to any other D on the Flames. He's the lightest (absent Kylington) by 10 pounds. He's right in the middle in height. The next biggest D after Z is Stone, then Hanifin.

This team is showing a very workmanlike attitude with a desire to get to the next level. Exciting three games so far and the results speak for themselves. Lots to be excited about and as fans let’s do our part and ensure we have a sold out house that is rocking every night.

You're absolutely right about jg and mt they just don't have either the motivation or don't know how to elevate their game and find that second gear when it matters.
