Flames fans aren’t very bright. Singh was literally chucking with glee when the Flames scored. That is a verifiable fact. He forgot that he was on the job. He’s a total farce of a broadcaster.
Like dear Lord, its a pretty easily verifiable fact that Singh is a lifelong Oiler fan. one can argue (I suppose) whether that colours how he calls the game, but no he is not chuck(l)ing with glee when the Flames score

If I remember correctly 4 Aves forwards played more than any Flames forward in Game 1, tonight 3 Oilers forwards played far more than any Flames forwards (interestingly Lindholm, then Backlund)
these are minor issues 2 games in, but add up as the season goes along- compounded by 10-15 teams in the league so close to the cap its not even clear on any given night whether they will be able to dress a full 20 , and the Flames aren't one of those teams

If the score had held at 4-1, I'm quite positive we'd have seen some Oilers jerseys hit the ice.
Also: That Walk of Shame video never gets old. It is evergreen.

People need to keep in mind that these were likely the two worst teams, from a psychological perspective, that the Flames could face. Walking away with two wins is incredible.

B/c making it to the Final 4 didn't magically stop Ken Holland from being the worst GM in the NHL just like how making the Cup Final in 2021 didn't magically turn Marc Bergevin into a functional GM. He had an absolute clownfiesta of an offseason by bleeding draft picks to get rid of bad contracts he signed to begin with. Signed the worst possible goaltender fit for the team in Campbell, a player whose great vs low/medium danger and horrid vs high danger for the team that trades high danger shots. Somehow watched Darnell Nurse have the most difficult competition/deployment in NHL history and decided "yeah more low leverage dmen will do". Somehow still has Tyson Barrie jamming up cap space/blocking Bouchard on this roster b/c... his preference is to remain an Oiler? And spent more time trying to recruit players involved with sexual/domestic assault than actually trying to build a roster. But hey apparently I'm a Flames fan for pointing this stuff out!
|
Seems like a sharp guy, especially researching a goalie's High danger save percentage and then evaluating their fit for the Oilers. This random angry fan might've done more homework on goalies than Holland did

The difference between Sutters and Woodcrofts pressers is this
Sutter is always saying the things that he believes will make improvements to the team, with brutal honesty.
Woodcroft is always trying to prove his genius
Real genius has nothing to prove
That organization seems to employ the same type from the top down.

I was listening to part of the first period on the Oilers radio feed
at one point Michaels was saying, "well the Flames opened the season by beating Colorado, but as Coach Woodcroft was quick to point out, Colorado was on the 2nd half of a back to back'
now I don't know if this is true or not (Michaels implied Woodcroft said this in a presser) but why in the world as a coach would you bring that up and I guess discredit your opponent, I don't understand the psychology there

What's the over/under that Skinner is the #1 goalie in Edmonton before December?

Because Woodcraft is a snake oil salesman posing as an NHL coach. He is a "fake it until you make it" guy. He is an actor playing the role of an NHL coach.
When you listen to him talk, he uses motivational speaking cliches.
