No, I know. I just kind of wanted to see it again, lol. My mom used to turn the TV to that station every night before bed.

Yup, that's exactly why. For some reason, the phone manufacturers came up with this idea that, "oh, if someone is calling you many times in a row, it must be an emergency, so I'll ignore your Do Not Disturb settings and make the phone ring".

Thankfully, you can turn it off.

Uggh, that brings back memories of going to Grandma's condo and being bored out of our minds because we couldn't change the TV off that blue screen of death weather and news text.

I vaguely remember something like this in early 2000s when I moved to Canada, but is this the kind of thing you guys are reminiscing about? (This is for Winnipeg)

That looks like it's just the weather. In Calgary, in the 80s and 90s, there was a channel like that which also had a scrolling news feed from the Broadcast News agency. It also showed weather and live sports scores as part of the loop.

At the time, that was the only way to get live scores during the evening until the late news came on at 11, so you could switch over during a commercial break on the show you were watching and hope you caught the sports segment before you switched back.

Interesting that Canada didn't have a teletext service - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletext

It was like an early version of the internet. You would go to page 100 for news headlines, 200 for weather, 300 for sports, etc and then click further to read individual stories.

When Wayne was traded to St Louis, I found out from this channel.

And if all you wanted was time and temperature, who could forget 233-2222?

Nailed it. Christmas 1989 at Grandma’s condo in Winnipeg. 4 hours of sitting around watching that. I can almost taste the chocolate mint cookies and hear Grandpa’s emphysema cough.

I think you can change it to contacts only. That way a friend can break through DND for a legit emergency. I think emergency services can break through as well if set on contacts only.

Looking at those video clips, it reminds me of many foyer in professional buildings.

I’m sure they would bust you if you tried it. They have time stamps for activation so at a minimum you would have been in the fair paid zone at the station the cops got on at prior to activating your ticket. I assume most people aren’t paying enough attention to get past the ok what station did you get on at question. Or what were you doing before you got on the train vs where you live.

Their migration to Mexico is critical and the cartel recently killed the two top butterfly conservationists there. https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5451465

So I shaved my head last night down to a 0.5. Wearing a hat today. I feel a tickle on the the top of my head. Scratch it. Rinse and repeat a few more times. I thought is was a loose thread in my hat just barely touching my scalp. Nope. A fataing beetle scampering around on my head. WTAF.
