Absolutely.
Can still look at the terrible call in isolation and see it for what it is and call it out because that is an awful display of inconsistency by a league that has defined inconsistent over the years.

Nevertheless, the Flames were outclassed and there was no doubt about it.

Defence definitely needs to .be upgraded at the top end.
Hope they aggressively improve the roster in the off season and go again. I still appreciate playoff hockey.

Sheesh. It’s incredibly disappointing yes. But wounds heal in time. We all know what it feels like to be a Flames fan in the 80s now. Sleep on it and come back with some rational takes.

McDavid and Draisatl have a combined 52 points in 12 games.

You could argue it took a historically offensive performance by two superstars to beat the Flames.

100% hosed on the none-goal. I knew the series was over the second that blown call was made. Absolutely brutal way to lose the series. However the series was over far before that. Plainly put, Calgary sucked this series. Not at all the team that was saw over the regular season. Terrible goaltending. Terrible defending. Terrible 'clutch' play. Terrible desperation.

Markstrom let the team down immensely. But can't hang it all on him. Most of the team simply never showed up. This series was a steady downfall after they let the Oilers tie it up in game 2. A repeat after the Smith gaff, which should have turned the tide of the series. Instead, the Oilers never looked back.

Credit to them, McDavid proved that he simply IS the best player, no matter what the E=NG crowd thinks. Dude has the power to take them all the way. Honestly thought Hyman was their best overall player, even with the points McDrai put up. Solid pickup.

The hockey gods have it out for us, but at least it was a fun season and great to have a game 7 OT winner in round 1.

GG Oilers.

Kills me to say it but they played better than the Flames this series. Had their star players do exactly what was needed from them and they recovered 3 separate times at the 'Dome when they were down by 2 or more goals.

Do I think we need to blow it up? No.

Is the world ending. No.

Game 7 in the Red Lot was a remarkable experience and honestly the most fun I had since Russell scored the game winner in Vancouver (game 1) when I flew out to watch that game.

I'll ride or (most likely) die watching the Flames for life. Thanks for providing an incredible season to watch. Thank you and see you next year CP!

The no goal was absolutely brutal, how can they over turn that is beyond me. People are fired up, I get it, but just to give devils advocate, there is still 6 minutes left and with the Flames propensity to blow leads, saying they would have for sure won doesn't make much sense to me.

As much as it pains me to say this, the team that deserved to win, won.

In the end, the Flames blew that series by completely abandoning the defensive structure that made them a dominant team all year, and instead trying to match the Oilers in river hockey shenanigans. That goal being called back tonight definitely stings, but overall the Flames beat themselves more than anything, and they allowed McDrai to walk all over them. Another lesson learned from this series: never take your foot off the gas when you have the lead, and never abandon your game.

I'm happy they finally got over that 1st round hump. Baby steps I guess. But man, if they had just stuck to the style that got them here, the Flames could have easily won this series. Such is the curse of being a fan of this franchise.

Oh well. Have a good summer everybody and I'll see y'all back here for the usual off season stuff. Hopefully they can re-sign Johnny. Overall I think the team is on the right track. Just need to get deeper on D and improve the 3rd and 4th lines, and I think we'll be better next year.

The players lost confidence in Markstrom in the first game, and then just played scared/tentative because they didn’t want to give up chances. It pulled them out of their game, and resulted in them scrambling through 5 games.

I really think Darryl’s only two choices were to roll lines and see if they learn the lesson on the fly, or yank markstrom for vladar. The latter is a tough call, so he left them to figure it out. I think he saw that it was out of his hands.

Mackinnon, McDavid have another gear.

Tkachuk and Gaudreau play with a regular season intensity but can't magnify it in the post-season with consistency. Very frustrating.

That disallowed goal was instantly on par with the Gelinas no-goal in 2004.

I've never seen that many 2 on 1s against in 1 series in the 40 years of watching playoff hockey!!

He was the reason the Oilers scored goals 4 and 5.

Sad end to the season. It was like 1988 all over again. T
The goaltending wasn't great, but the Flames defence as a team was horrid. Which is stunning for a Sutter coached team. We will be the Oilers bitch for a few years here and it's going to suck.

Very bad.
He wasn’t mid season Markstrom. But his save% is not all on him by a long stretch. Bad D giving 10 bell chances, stupidly lucky bounces to open guys, somehow D forgetting not to screen their own goalie.
