I have a question (might have already been answered, sorry), I always thought that Obi and Vader/Anakin never saw each other between Obi slicing him up at the end of RoS and Vader killing Obi in ANH.

Is that originally how it was supposed to be but they've just added this new confrontation between the two?

Star Wars fans absolutely can be the worst, but you also have to admit, they've put up with a lot of crap over the years too. It could just be that their patience is worn out.

That being said, can someone Cole's Notes what the issue with Reva is? She hasnt been the most interesting character but I havent really seen anything wrong.

I think the detractors have 2 specific points against Moses (not so much Reva) they are making.

Its a big Galaxy. There are other people in it. Embrace it.

I know the Empire is supposed to be Xenophobic which is why in the original Trilogy they were all white, British dudes, but come on. We can move past this.

Agreed on the Moses/Reva stuff I've been reading about the last few days. I personally didn't resonate with the Reva character at all in episode 1 and 2 and found her to be annoying and a distraction to the Obi-Wan story I was expecting, but I can appreciate that she was purposely written that way and it even comes across with how the other Inquisitors treat her (too impulsive, too much of a brat essentially).

I found her to be a more appealing character in episode 3 when she took a back seat to Vader, and now we're starting to see more of her arc with her Jedi past which is getting interesting. This situation lately with a small group of toxic fans DM'ing her with racist garbage though is horrible to see, attack the character sure, but not the actor.

George Lucas created this massive, diverse, textured galaxy with all of these different beings, planets, religions, etc. which includes hundreds of different alien species - but a small group of people still can't wrap their head around seeing a black person in a prominent role within a story set in this galaxy.. just ridiculous.

I don't even dislike Reva. The actress's delivery isn't going to land her an Emmy nod, but it's still far too early to write the character off.

Much of the backlash is rooted in sheer racism.

Lots of buzz today from SW celebration about hints towards a second season.

Would need an ending that leaves some things unresolved. Don't know how open ended they wrote these six episodes. Once Obi Wan and Anakin have their rematch and Leia is saved, is there anything left to explore?

A second season would have to be centered more on an inquisitor hunt (or perhaps Maul/Crimson Dawn?) than Vader vs Obi Wan. Then again, studio writers are more creative than I am and can write their way around such presumptive obstacles.

I've been over Star Wars lately with the newest movies having taken the joy out of the franchise to the point I wasn't even interested in The Mandalorean. Having McGregor back as Obi Wan managed to pique me interest in this series and after 3 episodes I am invested despite remaining skeptical. Obi Wan shares some of the problems of new Star Wars with everything being based around the Skywalkers making the universe feel small and a need to fill in every past plot hole taking away from original storytelling. I am however enjoying the very personal nature of the story, allowing McGregor's acting to be shown off, and that this takes place during a very interesting time when the Empire is at its peak giving a different perspective than what Rebels provided.

As someone that routinely spits on the grave of the sequel trilogy, you should give Mandalorian a shot. Its fun. A lot of fun. Slow to get going but once it does it really establishes itself as its own thing with meaningful characters NOT named Skywalker, although we also get treated to some nice Skywalker content that is done with love and not blasphemous to the OT's legacy.

Mando is above Obi Wan for me so far, but Ewan's acting is by far and away the greatest in this entire franchise and he can carry this show effortlessly because of that.

Vader being given proper antagonist treatment is quickly giving this show a second dimension though. Let's see if they can stick the landing despite some odd choices here and there.

It seems to be a sci-fi thing more than just a Star Wars thing. Trek, Dr Who, Battlestar Galactica, etc have all had their fair share of racism, bigotry and misogyny when characters from the 50s and 60s are changed or introduced that aren’t white dudes.

Hell, we’ve seen it on CP when members complain about “woke” Disney or Paramount for changing a character’s gender, race or including someone with a different sexual preference than their own.

They can’t imagine a writing team wanting to include a wide range of characters in a future setting where they’re not the central character anymore.

That would have been better, because the vast majority of the movies are awful lol. And it's for worse, it's definitely for worse. That rudderless disaster of a sequel trilogy is what happens when they try to please the fanbase.
