Considering the Flames' drafting record with late round picks, I say let's load up! They seem to really know what the #### to do with them in those later rounds.

You have to give to get, and Dillion Dube is the easiest piece to replace in the lineup that could have some value in trade. The Flames need to keep their young guys on entry level deals to keep the cap in check. Dube and Valimaki are the two pieces that get traded to bring in a proven talent up front. They still hold enough promise to be interesting to teams, but haven't proven enough here to make me believe the Flames would sell off their best prospects to retain them.

Whoa there big fella. Let's not blow the "late round success" thing out of proportion. Yes, we've hit on some good players late (Mangiapane, Gaudreau, Ferland and Brodie) but I think people need better context on those picks. Brodie was 13 drafts ago. Ferland 11 drafts ago. Gaudreau 10, and Mangiapane 7. Since then, not a lot of anything, and we have the 2018 draft of nothing but late picks that has yet to produce anything. We need to keep the cupboards stocked and we really need those early picks to do so. I think Treliving would be hesitant to move those early picks unless we were getting something substantial with term coming back. I haven't seen a name on the market yet that would have me throwing in our 1st or 2nd.

Nah. I like the late rounds picks, and I'm confident in our scouting department. I say if you can get them as pot sweeteners, you do it.

Only way I'd target Toffoli is if he was 50% retained. And even then I wouldn't be willing to go much higher than the previously mentioned dube+Valimaki offer. Toffoli would be a great add but I really hope they can find a way to get Giroux or even Pavelski (he'd be perfect). An expiring contract attached to a better player is what they need for a better shot this year and to set them up going forward. Toffoli at just over 2m for 2 more years sounds really good but giroux or Pavelski are much better players and can play C as well which is like two birds with one stone for this team's needs
Add Toffoli and they still need a C that is top 6 quality imo

Friedman in his latest 32 thoughts said some teams also contacted him and speculated that LA might want Toffoli back.

Of all the players rumoured to be on the block, this guy might be the crown jewel. He would help us the most. More than Toffoli or anybody else.

Oh yeah, he's nothing more than a pipe dream, just to be clear. Toffoli is the one I see coming here.

Need someone better than Toffoli. Need a guy who can drive a 3rd line by himself or be the best player on a 2nd line where he’s got good line mates. Someone who would be a core guy if his contract was longer or has fallen out of favour somewhere. Someone who doesn’t need #1PP time to score 50 points.
Is Miller that guy? Maybe idk.

I know for a fact that the Canucks are asking for teams number 1 prospect plus. I also know that one team in particular said no to that. But he is being shopped by the Canucks.

Yes but I think the extra cost between Miller and toffoli could be worth it. 2 of our lines are set . I just don’t see how bringing in toffoli is going to make Monahan better? Toffoli needs a setup man and Mony is not that. Miller can create by himself and plays a 200 foot game . If you bring in Miller , IMO, he is good enough to break up any lines including the 1st line to make it work .

This team would benefit so much from adding a top 6 forward. They deserve the help, this whole group is bought in. Give them some weapons for a run. Cant wait for May to be around my fellow fans on another Daryl Sutter playoffs. The excitement is real and this team can be dangerous as is, make a few additions and go for it. This city will erupt!

Did you know Monahan only has one NHL season with more goals than assists? Did you know that Monahan was Toffoli's set up man before? Do you know Toffoli also only has three seasons with more goals than assists?
I'm not picking on you only, because I see this all the time. LINE CHEMISTRY DOESN'T WORK LIKE EASPORTS. It's not this guy can only shoot and this guy can only pass. Sean has actually shown some excellent playmaking skills throughout his career.
He also has been producing offensively on the PP, the only place where he isn't tied to dead weight 90% of the time.
Monahan-Toffoli has good potential to work. Monahan is good at digging pucks out of corners, finding openings, and finding good passing lanes. Toffoli is good at rushing the puck, shooting, and hassling other teams defensemen. Add a fast guy like Dube in there and you have something interesting.
